Restaurant bewertenWe decided to dine at this restaurant based on its positive reviews, however, I will not be returning. The food was okay, but there are superior dining options in Richmond. The service was very poor.
Visiting Richmond for the first time, I found this place on Yelp.
I do like coming here for their food, as we have had multiple dishes here and almost all of it is very good.
The Richmond Public Market features two floors of various vendors, including fresh produce, meat, bakery, groceries, and general merchandise on the ground floor, and an Asian food court on the second floor with a wide selection of different food vendors. The food options include Cantonese cuisine, Northern dishes, noodles, soup, and even Halal food. The prices at the food kiosks are very reasonable. The market is conveniently located approximately ½ mile from Richmond Centre shopping mall and about a mile from the Richmond Oval. Starting off with this review, I must say that I enjoy dim sum even when it's purchased from the frozen section of Asian supermarkets and cooked at home. The convenience of having dim sum at a restaurant is that I don't have to do the shopping or preparation myself. Imperial Court, located nearby in Richmond, is our favorite spot for dim sum. However, it's not common to receive a warm welcome and friendly service in dim sum restaurants, whether in Richmond or here in the United States. As another reviewer mentioned, the pricing at this restaurant is a bit strange. Unlike traditional dim sum places, there are no carts here - instead, you select your dishes from a menu. The flavors are enjoyable, particularly the sticky rice. We were expecting individual portions of sticky rice wrapped in leaves, as we had seen at other tables. To our surprise, we were presented with a large plate of sticky rice that was delicious. The attentive servers definitely add to the charm of this place. I would give an average rating for the service, as there was a misunderstanding with our order. The server brought us a dish that we had not actually selected, and insisted that we had. It turns out that the menu had one dish already marked (with a checkmark) that we had overlooked. Thankfully, we had filled in the remainder of the order and could show that we hadn't intended to order the checked item. This kind of mistake should be avoided.
