Restaurant bewertenYou get what you pay for. The rooms were generally quite clean, except for the bathroom, where the shower curtain had some mold and the floor was fairly dirty. Overall, it was what you would expect given the price.
The bartender at this establishment was the rudest I've ever encountered. It seemed too difficult for her to make a drink for our large group, and she treated us as if we were a burden. When I inquired about food options, she flatly said no. However, I noticed her friends were being served food, and it was only 8:30 PM. If you want to attract customers, you need to do your job properly. I visited on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, and I hope this feedback helps address the issue.
You can ignore the reviews from before May 2021, as the restaurant is under new ownership and has undergone significant improvements. I visited a few years ago and dined there in 2016 or 2017 before it closed two years ago, but neither of those experiences stood out. This year, during my annual vacation to the area, I was pleased to discover that Camp 28 had reopened under new management, so I decided to give it another try. I'm very glad I did. The pot roast was exceptional, and the walleye was superb—definitely try the breaded version. The selection of beers on tap was also impressive. While chatting with one of the new owners, I learned that they are revamping the rooms as well, and I really appreciate the new decor, which features interesting photos and artifacts related to the area's logging history. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place.
The food here is out of this world. Everything is done in-house, generously sized and won't break the bank by a long shot. Very true northwoods vibe too. Will definitely be back whenever I return to the area.
