Restaurant bewertenThis resort is stunning, with a staff that is both responsive and attentive. The rooms offer breathtaking views and a cozy, charming atmosphere. It's a genuine northwoods family experience that I absolutely adore! The Turn of the Century Store and Three Coins Restaurant are fantastic added perks.
Our room was dirty and outdated. There was stale water in the coffee maker, and the mattress seemed like it hadn't been replaced since the hotel was first built. During our four-day stay, we didn't see a single staff member. The only question we were asked at check-out was whether we needed a receipt. When we stopped by the lounge on Saturday night, the bartender was too busy grumbling about making ice cream drinks to attend to us. The area itself is lovely, but I recommend finding another place to stay if you want to enjoy your vacation!
We had a fantastic time at Holiday Acres Resort! We enjoyed swimming, rented a pontoon boat, and my husband went fishing. We also rented bikes to explore the beautiful nearby trails, dined at the resort's restaurant twice, and relaxed with drinks at the bar while taking in the stunning sunsets. It was exactly the little getaway we needed! I wholeheartedly recommend Holiday Acres Resort, and we are already dreaming about the cottage we want to book for our next visit!
On the positive side, the staff were friendly and very apologetic upon hearing our feedback. The hotel has some nice amenities that could be quite appealing during the summer months, but sadly, many of these services ended a week or two before our visit, which we probably should have anticipated. There is a beach and a lovely lake, and the office provides equipment for the boats available to guests. The view from our unit was quite nice as well. However, the negatives were hard to overlook. Upon entering our room, we noticed the fridge had green splatters all down the side—this was the first thing I saw. There was long black hair scattered in several areas, and a dirty dustpan left on top of the refrigerator, which was quite unappealing. We also found mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers and inside the drying rack under the sink. Later that night, my husband discovered more long black hair and dirt on the sheets where we were supposed to sleep—these were not stains but debris that could have easily been removed. To add to the discomfort, there was hair inside the fridge as well. Our 5-year-old was running around barefoot in the cottage, and his feet ended up completely black from the dirt on the floors. Our dog crawled under the beds and dragged out stale snacks like Goldfish. My son even did some headstands on the couch and came up with dog hair stuck to his head. On the last day, my husband found a long white hair. There were also cobwebs in the kitchen and bugs on the mantle of the fireplace. We even discovered several spiders in my husband's tennis shoes on our final morning. While some of these issues could have been managed, they certainly need attention. Additionally, the pool was extremely cold, and the adjacent changing room was in dire need of maintenance, including mold on the ceiling. Overall, our stay unfortunately fell short of our expectations.
