Restaurant bewertenGreat value and a quick meal in Put In Bay. $12 in the peak summer season got me half a chicken grilled and braised in wine, corn on the cob and a potato salad. The chicken was delicious and grilled to perfection and the corn on the cob was delicious as well. Service basically consists of them giving you the food (assembly line style, massive amounts of chicken on the grill) and you paying money and then finding yourself a seat. Not sure what the bathroom situation is (I don't think the place has one), but still 5-stars for the sheer quantity and quality of food for $12. Not a place for a fancy meal obviously, but feeding your hungry after a long day of partying at Put In Bay, The Chicken Patio can do you no wrong.
The Chicken Patio has a simple menu. With dinner, you get barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad and a roll. After a long sail in from Amherstburg a few years back, my dad and I made a beeline for this place, and were rewarded with some of the most mouthwatering chicken I've ever had, along with an ice cold draft beer for him and a lemonade for me (I was 20, boo). The food is great and it's a nice place to grab a quick meal. Make sure to tip the grillers it's hot as anything back there and they do a good job.
The chicken is amazing, highly recommend trying it. The sauce is so good. The chicken was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere is like being on a picnic. Great meal. Glad I tried it.
This place does one thing and they do it very well BBQ chicken. This place is the ultimate in no frills. They have a monstrous open grill that I would have to say is about 12 feet long and the guys grilling do a great job. The sauce is very good but since we went there right around closing some of us in our group said that their chicken was a little dry. Mine was not dry at all fortunately and the potato salad was excellent too as I have never found one that had quite the taste of the stuff I had here. I also thought the peanut wagon was a nice little novelty. On their massive outdoor patio they have a little peanut wagon looking thing where you can get a cold beer or lemonade and some fresh roasted peanuts.
Its 1am. You've been drinking in the sun since noon and someone just asked you your name and it took you a full 10 seconds to think of it. There's only one thing in the world that would be better than going back to your hotel and sleeping the sleep of ages. That thing is Chicken Patio. I've been going to the PIB for over ten years, and in that time I've accumulated many traditions, but when push comes to shove, there's really only one thing on the to do list and that's a late night assault on CP. This usually involves me and my friends grabbing some of the last few dinners available (come too late, you'll get shut out a fate worse than getting the flashlight at the Roundhouse) and carrying them back to where we stay. At least one person will inadvertantly drop their dinner, leaving them to suck other people's chicken bones for a morsel of the tasty goodness once we're done eating. Oh yeah, speaking of chicken bones, they, along with spent corn cobs, make for great late night projectiles (what can I say, PIB turns me into a ten year old). So yeah, I can't vouch for this place in the sober light of day, but there's nothing finer when your seeing double and need some late night nourishment.
