Restaurant bewertenI thought this place was a college friendly cafe because it was located right by RISD and Brown University; however, I was completely wrong. I came into the cafe expecting to buy a coffee and study for my finals. When I first came in, the lady at the register told me I couldn 't sit on the couches because I wasn 't ordering lunch. Therefore, I sat on the window side. Later, she came over and told me I was being to loud on the phone but this was a cafe where people could talk. Before closing, she told me directly just to let you know, you can 't just spend $4 and sit here for 4 hours. I didn 't expect that I had to pay more just to sit and study when there were so many empty spots in the cafe and not many customers. This experience has discouraged me from coming back as a college student.
I've always driven by this place but I decided to try it. Amazing hot chocolate and pastries. It is one of the best pastries I've ever eaten. Will 1000% come here
I stopped in for a quick bite with my nephew (I wanted to show him my alma mater, RISD). The place was busy, and the young lady who took our order either misunderstood, or forgot a few items. The older lady who rang me up gave us a café au lait and a sandwich (correct), but we didn't get the almond croissant or bottled water we also ordered. She looked at us as if we were confused. I mentioned the missing items, and she had to ring me up again. My nephew offered to pay for his bottled water. He handed over cash and said “keep the change,” to which this lady reacted with a grimace. All in all she seemed to be annoyed with us. We enjoyed our food outside at one of the tables, but I vowed never to come to this café again. I’m not one to make a big deal about food service, but coming back to Providence after some 30-odd years, I found things a bit rude — and I’m an old Queens boy. Maybe the counter ladies couldn't hear each other through their masks. In case the owner is interested, my visit was Sept. 14, around lunchtime.
Asked for an iced Cappuccino; was told there's no such thing. Settled for an iced latte. Asked for some simple syrup; was told they don't have any, just the flavored kind. The woman who served me was nasty and arrogant. Charged me $7.26 for the pleasure. Management should take a drive up to L'Artisan Cafe Bakery on Wayland Sq...you might learn a thing, or 2.
The manager (older white haired woman) was very unfriendly and hostile. When I asked about what type of coffee she was visibly annoyed and then from the moment my wife and I sat down to start working she stared at us the entire time. We will never come back here.
