Restaurant bewertenThe food was so good I go here often with my daughter. Occasionally, there is a wait here, but it is worth it.I had the shift meal it was gorgeous, and I will be back. They have quite unique food and drink on the menu.
Way better than I expected. I thought this was a dive bar for four years but it turns out to be a great Mexican restaurant with an empty bar. People watching on Foster St is never a bore.
Delightful food with creative (but culinary-sound) specials. Mel, the owner, and all of her team are friendly and fun. The space has the added benefit of a lot of southern exposure with big windows, making it a kind of cheerful sunroom during the winter. (Don’t worry, they have AC for the summer). And ask for a lime-thyme soda.
Our dinner was SUPER disappointing for both my friend and I. Chips and guacamole comes with a TINY portion of guacamole (I nearly laughed it was so small) and a heaping plate of chips. The burger was undercooked and the juices drenched the bottom bun so it disintegrated. Just bland and overpriced in my opinion. Excellent service and cute vibes, but food needs a lot of help.
We love in the neighbor and seem to be finding ourselves frequenting Bar Carlos for weekend morning brunch more and more often. The authentic Chilaquiles and other Mexican inspired breakfast choices are really great. Service has always been respectable and the wait short by every Portland breakfast metric. The coffee while you wait is great, as a thing at all, and the coffee is actually hella good, consistently. In fact everything has been hella good consistently. 5 stars would recommend to others. But don't come for brunch I don't want it to get any busier for my own selfish reasons. ?
