Restaurant bewertenNormally this place gives quality food at reasonable prices They may have been having a bad day in the kitchen but the $20 lunch pork roast of the day was very tired, too much fat and vegetables that tasted as if they had been waiting a long time to be delivered. It's a great old pub but my meal today was way below acceptable.
We had a very pleasant dinner at the Stump. The staff and local diners were friendly and welcoming. The menu had a pleasant range of choices and the food was tasty and nourishing. Just the thing for a winter's night.
$8 Pull-apart style loaf, roasted garlic, capers, chilli and herb blend. Sounds good but we received nothing like it, a small long roll with garlic butter. The rest of the meals were good, however you shouldn't have to ask for tartare sauce with Fish and Chips.
Our food took an hour to arrive. The Scotch fillet was Ok as was a fish and chips. The mixed seafood paella contained 0ne overcooked and dry prawn some chorizo sausage and chopped tomatoes, it bore no resemblance to paella. The Fish of the day was a whole snapper, so overcooked that some of the flesh was dry and stuck to the bone. The calamari was tasteless small and was overwhelmed with batter. I complained and was offered a refund or they would cook the meals again but we were not prepared to wait another hour. We had driven an hour to get to the restaurant. Its our second trip to this place and our last. Our advice, there are far better places in Port Fairy. Don't waste your time and money at the Stump.
Some creative dishes on menu but primarily standard pub fare. We had fish of day which was $30 and a really small serve. It was not until we were leaving that we noticed a salad bar so it would have been good to be informed that this was available and went with meal as we placed our order. Went home and filled up on fruit.!!!
