Restaurant bewertenWent to Kosho with my hubby for Taste of the Tri Cities, everything was amazing. Kosho food is always a taste treat and beautifully presented; as always service is top notch. A definite must try!
Last man eating... In the area picking up something from a customer and options for a bite was dwindling down. Finally decided for a revisit to this place which I haven't been to for years. Inside is one of those smaller cozy place; clean, typical and nothing too fancy. I was glad the server seated me on a bigger table instead one of those midget size ones. The server informed me they have a Tri-city special set menu for $35, quick glanced and I opted out on that. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Miso soup (complimentary). Pretty basic but thank you, nice to have a hot soup to warm up to from the cold. 2. Appetizer tempura. Pretty basic and as it should be. 3. Oyster motoyaki. I was glad they were on the shell but didn't know it's their own version of it; cold, marinated with cold pan fried onions on top. The cold oysters didn't really do it for me. Is it really that hard to find just the basic fresh oyster motoyaki baked with Japanese mayo anywhere? lol 4. Foie gras nigiri. Okay this is one of those must order item from here. Loved how the way it is put together and seared. Rich, buttery and creamy that literally melts in your mouth. Very nice! 5. Spider roll. A little bit too basic, could be more generous on the soft shell crab. 6. Saba shio yaki. It was okay, pretty straightforward dish. 7. Assorted sashimi. It was okay, the Akami could be a better cut. 8. Chopped scallops, uni, amaebi nigiris. The chopped scallop was fresh, the uni was a generous amount, I like how the amaebi head was prepared so easier to eat. 9. Albacore toro, Akami, chu toro. The albacore toro was a bit dry, the Akami was fresh, the chu toro just make it to the satisfactory level (as you can tell it lost some of its beautiful colour already). The restaurant is conveniently located on the corner of Lougheed Hwy and Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam. There are plenty of free parkings in the plaza. Inside the restaurant offers a causal comfortable dining atmosphere. The food was okay, could be better in some departments, but overall satisfactory level. As for the service, the staffs here were very friendly and welcoming. And quite accommodating to me being the last person left munching away (sorry over stayed 10mins after closing)
Absolute top Japanese restaurant not in downtown Vancouver. Friendly staff and a Innovative dinner menu with a few unique dishes. Also, a fun dim sum lunch menu for smaller sampler sizes. After Fuji Sushi shut down years ago, no Japanese restaurant in the port co Coquitlam area is any good to be honest until we found this place. On to the food. Must haves wagyu foie gras aburi melts in your mouth. What a delight. Great price at 6 for $22 (that 's like salmon prices in NY! assortment of sushi tacos haven 't found one I didn 't like. There are about 8 of them any fresh sashimi and sushi super fresh and rice to fish ratio is perfect. The rice holds a light soy sauce dip. Marks of a sushi chef veteran We are here twice in 3 days. Would come back again if we have another a few days. Highly recommended.
Kosho Sushi has the best... and I mean, THE BEST sushi in Port Coquitlam/Coquitlam area. The fish is fresh and tasty, and I love their specialty rolls as well. Lemon tuna roll is to DIE for (warning: contains pine nuts!!! . Not many people seem to think that it 's worth it to drive out to the 'burbs for sushi, but this place is 1000% worth the drive. It 's a cozy, homey, nondescript sushi place, but it 's just so fantastic. Frank the chef is incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming, a true culinary genius, seriously. His staff are also very efficient, friendly, and will make you feel warm and welcome. If you 're in the area, or if you 're reading this and debating whether to take the chance or not let this be a sign!!!! SO. WORTH. IT.
Fresh sushi, very friendly service that twice I went to this restaurant, the chef who is also the owner of the restaurant took the time to chat with us as well as other customers. A hidden gem with creative and authentic Japanese dishes. Better yet, the dishes are not over priced. In my opinion, everyone should visit this restaurant at least once.
