Taste Of The Islands - Plano

Came here twice. Not crowded, so not sure why service was so bad. 2 other customers have made orders. We got in and the staff looked irritated as if they wanted us to hurry and go. I asked for Curry Chicken. It didn't taste like Curry Chicken. Patty tasted frozen and bland. You have a supermarket if you need imported snacks, drinks and spices. My best friend is Carribean and she would have been disappointed in the meal. I hope it was just a free day. We really need this kitchen in the area and we really wanted to support this business.

Food is so good. I had to put it away so I could eat it tonight after this bowl football game.

First time eating at this place I had the Oxtails potatoes rice and peas and cabbage! It was soooooo good! the best I’ve ever had! Meat just falling right off the bones nice and juicy and EVERYTHING was seasoned very well. Even tho there was a line when I got there my Food was hot and ready, and I didn’t have to wait! I Definitely will be back!

I had a hankering for Oxtails after running errands all day, so of course I I turned to Yelp to find the best places near by. I stumbled upon Taste of the Islands . It was on a Saturday afternoon so upon entering they were very busy and the line was quite long. One side seemed to have been a sit down restaurant but perhaps closed down due to COVID. It was my first time here so I wasn 't sure exactly all of the items that I wanted to order, I felt a bit rushed...don 't come here if you are looking for customer service lol I decided upon the Oxtails with rice and peas and a side of Plantains. Stewed Oxtail $18.99/marinated oxtail slow cooked in seasoned stew sauce and 1 vegetable and rice and peas, I ordered the Spinach to go with it. Everything was very tasty but seemed a bit pricey? Or is this the average? The oxtails were fall off the bone tender and the rice and peas were flavorful. The plantains had just the right amount of sweetness!

1st time ordering and Everything I ordered was sooooo good! Oxtails, cabbage, rice and peas and beef patties. I will definitely be ordering again soon!
