Restaurant bewertenMackenzie and Holly are the best bartenders in the city. I am here frequently and the are automatic. They also have unreal menu. Maurice turned this place around and everyone that works for him is awesome
We recently had dinner late on a Sunday evening at the Forbes Tavern. We had never been there before. The atmosphere was cozy. There was one other table with two guys in the whole place. We were starving, and quickly overlooked the fact that every table appeared dirty. Not terribly dirty, just dirty. The server was friendly and helpful, and the menu was pretty simple. It was very hot outside so the two of us ordered lemonade and ice water. I ordered the smoked chicken wings (also grilled) and Cajun French fries. The food came out pretty quickly. The chicken wings were fantastic, but the fries were so spicy hot that we couldn't even eat them. We drank all of our drinks very quickly, and the server never refilled them. Sure we could've asked for more, but with one table eating, the server could be diligent and take care of that. All in all, we might return but it wouldn't be our first choice.
Great place to grab drinks after work or before going to North Shore for a game. I've come here with friends and colleagues and typically get a table immediately service is quick as well. Beer list is mid-size and diverse but I wish they carried ciders. Can't opine on the food but it looked pretty good when I glanced at other tables the last time I was there.
They make some a really great old fashioned here. It was small inside, but I had no issues getting a table on a Sunday evening. We started with the fried goat cheese balls, and they were decent, but I'm not sure I'd try them again. We also tried the French onion soup, which was great. The Tavern burger and margarita pizza were both excellent. The hot sausage was good, but nothing to write home about. We would stop back in on our next trip.
Good location, reasonably priced drinks for downtown. Went with a friend, we ordered a variety of beers and poutine. Good selection of beers, wouldn’t whole heartily recommend the poutine but that could be personal preference. Talked to other groups at the bar, it was a very friendly place.Food: 4/5
