Restaurant bewertenThere's not much choice of restaurants in Populonia, and we've tried only this, so I can't really compare it. One thing is sure the atmosphere of the city is definitely present as you'll be seated in the main street... the menu is quite limited (not surprising, having in mind the location but creative (lots of sea food on it! , the prices are as expected (around 12 euros per meal , but the fake plastic plates are just awful. The staff is kind, the interior not as much, not sure about the wine list.
We visited Populonia for its charming character, beautiful walking tracks to enchanting beaches and its breathtaking views over Golfo Barati but we were most impressed by the perfect atmosphere and very delicious lunch we had at Osteria di Piazza. We were surprised to find the friendly face of the new owner Vincenzo, whom we know of his previous restaurant Forrepaglia, and learned that he does things even better then before. We decided to go back for diner a few days later and were fully confirmed of the pure quality of the food, cooking and hospitality. We let Vincenzo pick out our antipasti and had different main courses like Cod a la Livornese, pasta with eggplant, cheese and porcini and Tagliata di Manzo. Everything was so perfect and everybody enjoyed the amazing ambiance of a few tables in a small street in a historic surrounding. This Osteria and Vincenzo are what makes Italy our favorite country for a lunch or diner. We will be back every year.
