Restaurant bewertenThis is our third visit... I decided to wait a few visits to appreciate their evident consistency and quality over time. These guys cook very, very Cuban, not typical of many Cuban or Cuban style restaurants, but in a home made Cuban kind of way... you 'd swear you 're in someone 's home in Habana having your meal there! Although they are not by any means the best Cuban Cuisine I 've ever had, there in an in obstruse and non descript location, the interior is low key, with some prints on the wall that emphasizes the heritage, but overall you wouldn 't tell what sort of restaurant you 're in, but the food is like coming home and having Mama 's dinner Cuban style! I can assert that if one is a true aficionado of 'legitimate and traditional ' Cuban food, one must come to grips with the fact that there is no 'real ' or even 'close ' to true Cuban cuisine to be found in the Valley or maybe Arizona for that matter here is an exception. Outside of Cuba, only Miami and some Florida Cities), New York and Chicago can boast magnificent renditions of the Cuisine but the Valley has Cuban Foods Bakery and Restaurant! Their offerings of customary dishes with old fashioned styles and traditional ingredients is gratifying and well rounded and covered on their menu. As both a descriptive of our tasting in our three visits, and an edifier of Cuban Cuisine, I include our experiences of their extraordinarily good renditions of: starting with refreshments of Malta a traditional stout like beverage made of water, malt, molasses, sugar and yeast); Materva a unique Cuban/Caribbean/South American soda made of yerba mate, an herb); Puerco Asado Chunks of Cuban style and seasoned Roast Pork); Pernil slow cooked and marinated Ham Shank); Yuca con Mojo boiled cassava in garlic and oil marinade); Mariquitas still warm and fresh thinly sliced Deep Fried Plantain Chips); Platanos Maduros deep fried sweet ripe plantains); Moros y Cristanos Cuban Black Beans mixed in White Rice then cooked and simmered); Chilindrón de Chivo goat in a Cuban Style tomato and pepper based sauce); Tamal de Cerdo not what 's expected of Mexican Tamales, it 's corn, but stuffed with chunks of either pork, beef or chicken, and wrapped in a banana leaf then steamed); Chilindron de Chivo lamb stew style offering); Ropa Vieja a seasoned, cooked, shredded and slightly sauced beef); Pollo ala Plancha chicken cutlets dowsed in citrus juice, skillet seared until golden, then topped with sautéed onions); Papa Rellena fried potato balls stuffed with traditionally seasoned picadillo [and lots of Cuban spices); Potaje de Garbanzos a potage of Cuban seasoning mixed with ham hocks, kale and other goodies); Empanadas de Ropa Vieja traditionally made with flank shredded beef with a mix of some vegetables olives and capers creates a distinctive flavor); Sandwich Cubano as traditionally made, this unique sandwich is distinct of any sandwich in the world); Lechon Asado the epitome of Cuban, its essence comes from the 'mojo ' marinade which contains huge sums of garlic, cumin, and oregano with citrus juices); wrapping up for desert; Pasteles de Guayava Guava filled turnover flaky pastries); these dishes are very exceptional and very true to the cuisine 's traditional preparation. This eatery has become our a 'go to ' Valley destination whenever we 're in the mood for my heritage food demands, taking home enough leftovers to get me over for a while. I am fascinated with the array of options they offer and can still put out quality offerings not to mention exceptional service! Although not the best example of Cuban Cuisine in the Country, for the Valley its choices, quality, taste and authenticity come closest in the region. If you 've never had Cuban Food... this is the place to go in the Valley... if you 're familiar with, and enjoy Cuban Cuisine, don 't go thinking you 'll have the greatest Cuban meal in the world but, you 'll leave delighted at something s
A hidden gem in Phoenix. Tostones Relleno plantain w/beef was tasty and different. Cuban sandwich very good. Flan generous serving and excellent. Waited 20 min for the Tostones Relleno, whereas a 4-some got their food in ~11 min cuban sandwich and dinner plate . Only on waitress who ALSO handled take out orders. so we had to wait for service ... but it was worth the wait! :
I have gotten take out many times from here, staff is friendly and food it good. I love the sweet plantains, and their flan is creamy and delightful. Every item I have ever purchased was good food. Drop in and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
Ana the owner is amazing! My usual is the Cordon Blue and Tostones and it never fails! Will always come back here!
Place was really good! So was the service. Very hospitable. We had the tostones rellenos, lechon asado, and the Cuban sandwich. Tired it off with a cafe con leche and flan. Delicious. Definitely be back?
