Restaurant bewertenYou go here for the food and nothing else. Is it a picturesque place?? Is the ambiance amazing?? No and no. But you will have caring servers and food that makes you feel like your grandmother thinks you're getting too skinny.
This is most consistent out of all the Ethiopian restaurants in West Philly. Really good food. The service is fine. They always give you extra injera if you need it. The upstairs bar is excellent.
Fantastic local gem! Just a heads up, there appears to be only one server, but she is wonderful and manages everything efficiently! The food consistently impresses, with a delightful mix of spices. I highly recommend the doro wot (spicy simmered chicken legs). Each visit is a delightful experience, and the prices are very reasonable. You can enjoy a complete meal and more for less than you'd anticipate!
This restaurant offers good food, but I would recommend avoiding dining in. It could significantly spoil your experience. The prices are quite high for the portion sizes. There's only one server/cashier, and unfortunately, the service was very rude. It felt like they were doing me a favor just by taking my order. To make matters worse, I received and was charged for a completely different dish than what I had ordered, and it was twice the price of my original choice. The server was unhelpful and insisted that it was my fault, which was quite frustrating. It's never pleasant to be surprised by a hefty bill, especially when you pointed out your order clearly. The server was American, so communication shouldn’t have been an issue. It’s disappointing to look forward to a meal and end up with something unexpected and overpriced. I’ve been ordering from here regularly, but after this experience, I think I’ll be looking for a new Ethiopian restaurant.
I've seen pictures of their pre-pandemic menu, and it's shocking to see the prices of the individual veggie dishes increase from $10 to $15, and the veggie combo rising from $12 to $19. While I understand that inflation affects food prices everywhere, it feels frustrating when basic ingredients like lentils are still relatively cheap. I used to love this place, but after this experience, I will likely choose a different restaurant for my next Ethiopian meal.
