Restaurant bewertenAs we don't consume huge amounts of red meat, a visit to the Black Iron Grill is usually reserved for our more special occasions - in this instance it was a birthday celebration. It was very positive to see the restaurant so busy, given that it is slightly out of the way in terms of location. The tall ceilings and muted decor do give off a vibe of steak house, a compact patio is available for outdoor use.Our server was Kiersten, who was professional and friendly and is a great asset to the team. We had a Prime Rib and the feature dish, Steak Madagascar. Both meals came with the complement of beautiful roasted seasonal veggies, baked potato or fries. We chose a half litre of Syrah that was very pleasant. The steaks were standouts - medium rare and cooked perfectly, the Madagascar came with a peppercorn reduction and sauteed mushrooms. We were both very happy with our choices and enjoyed everything. A shared chocolate torte dessert was the finishing touch. As a very picky meat eater, it is not often that I get to enjoy as good a cut of meat as this one was.
The first time we went was during the week and we eat early so arrived 4.30 pm and ordered and it was great. I had the prime rib burger and my husband had a sirloin steak and they were both excellent. The next time we ate there was on a Sunday and they have a wonderful prime rib buffet and that was excellent. The dessert bar was nice too. we will go again for a special occasion.
We had the steak and pear salad and the chicken oscar. The food was very tasty (my rice was bland but the oscar enhanced it well). My husband said he'd order the pear salad again. Our server, Kristin was kind and very knowledgeable! Highly recommend!
It was my husband`s and my 30th wedding anniversary. We were waited on by a very nice waitress. They have happy hour between 4pm-5pm weekdays.20% off regular menu items. My husband had the chicken Oscar,he wasn`t impressed.I had the special which was steak and lobster tail. The 8oz strip lion was done perfect, the lobster tail was over done and tough, but tasted good.We were starving so didn`t send it back. For dessert we shared a turtle cheese cake, which was on the house. We were made to feel very welcome and will go back for date night on Fridays which doesn`t start again till the fall. Its a good deal for $59 shared appy, choose from 5 entrée dinners and shared dessert which includes half litre of house wine.
There were 5 of us and we all ordered something different. It was all delicious and very large portions. Service was excellent. Not too busy for a Friday night, tourists are missing out.
