Restaurant bewertenI went to Yesterday 's after seeing recommendations all over my Facebook feed. I started with the French onion soup, which had an interesting flavor but I liked it. Often times, French onion soup tastes too salty and this one was a little more bland, could 've used some more onion but I would 100% order again. For my main course, I got the ribeye with a baked potato and asparagus. The ribeye had SOOOO much flavor, I loved it!!!! I actually think it was bigger than what I ordered but I was okay with that, leftovers! Asparagus was perfectly cooked as well, with just the right amount of flavor. Service-wise, our server was brand new so she had to go back to the kitchen several times to ask questions. It was not busy when we got there, so we didn 't mind. I wish I still lived near town so I could try their taste of nights. I hear they are a big hit!
Literally nothing my companion or I had was more than passably edible, including the water. At first I thought it was flavored but quickly realized it tasted like cleaning solution. When we asked for new glasses of water, the owner came over and insisted there was nothing wrong with the water and was rather nasty about it. I mean, it's tap water, not like they lost money on it. The burger I ordered was more of a ball than a patty, and still dry throughout. The flavor was okay, but the meat/bread ratio was extreme one way and then the other due to the odd shape. My friend's steak was very fatty and overcooked. The side of a baked potato oddly had some thing green and leafy inside it, like they used a dirty knife to cut the potato. Difficult to believe they wouldn't have seen a 2-inch piece of vegetable(? on the knife though. My friend asked for butter and received a pile of little cafeteria-type butter packets, most of them already open because of how oily they were. When the bill came, it had two extra charges on it; one for an additional tax that the waitress couldn't explain, and the other was a credit card processing fee. I understand this charge is becoming more common, but it was on the bill before they knew how we were paying (cash and because the overall experience was so negative, my friend couldn't help but wonder if it would've been removed if we hadn't specifically asked about the additional fee. One star for the very pleasant waitress. Even she seemed taken aback at how snotty the owner got with us over the water, and seemed appropriately embarrassed over the nasty butter even though we didn't say anything about it. After the issue with the water, we just ate what we could and didn't bother complaining about what was easily the worst dining experience I've ever had in Pekin.
We went to Taste of Spain tonight and I can't wait to go back. Chef JoElle Schramm is amazing! Every dish was delicious and perfectly cooked. The plating was perfect and the wine choices were great. Not what you would expect from Illinois for a dining experience! East coast sure but here in the heartland not a chance. We will be back for more monthly Tase of journeys not to mention lunch and dinner. She has brought a new polish to a downtown classic.
Tired and gross. French onion soup had weird spices on the cheese. Pub mac pasta too chewy wih too little cheese. Iced tea and cola had strange aftertaste. Table sticky and water glasses not clean. Club sandwich very good only star. Wait staff friendly but absent minded. Best thing I can say is I tried it but not anymore
If I could rate this bar and their food it would be 100/10. Excellent. I love the people the food is chefs kiss!
