Restaurant bewertenFirst, the atmosphere. Old-world Paris, elegance and charm. Romantic and subdued. The service was impeccable, highest regards to the knowledgeable and gracious sommelier, Simone de Lucia. We wanted to taste different champagnes, so we each ordered glasses of something different. These are pricey champagnes by the glass, anywhere from 23€ to 40€ each. Lovely presentation of three different types of crystal champagne glasses for you to choose from. Then Simone brought over the bottles and gave us a brief but informative and interesting account of its origin before pouring. These were different qualities of champagne that make Dom and Cristal seem pedestrian by comparison. We left after one glass, because we wanted to walk down to Trocadero Park to watch the Eiffel Tower light show. But the champagne lingered on our tongues and in our memories as we walked and talked about how marvelous the experience had been. So we decided to go back after the show. We had two different kinds of champagne than before, each one extremely pleasing. We also got a cheese plate, though we were somewhat hesitant that it would ruin the taste of the champagne. But of course the cheeses with toast points were delicious and perfect pairings for the champagne. Must mention the butter as well. My husband is not a big butter eater. I tasted it and swooned, and asked him to try it. From that point on, we shared. He wanted to find out the brand of butter so we could have it shipped to us here in the U.S. I talked him down. Four glasses of champagne and a cheese plate, plus two separate generous tips for the deserving Simone, cost us around 200 €. But it was one of those magical experiences you are likely to have only in Paris, and very much worth it.
We went to Le Dokhan's based on a recommendation in a cooking related email. Best gastronomic experience while in Paris. We opted for a caviar sampler (I was a caviar first timer), duck pâté and Dim Sum. The sommelier recommended a bottle of champagne from a small French producer who bottles less than 6,000 bottles annually. It was derived from the pinot noir grape exclusively and was made with no added sugar. I am not a big fan of champagne but I do love Pinot. This was an exceptional bottle albeit on the pricey side (120 Euros). The food was as good as the champagne. The service was impeccable...ever present but not hovering. It was not cheap but it was absolutely memorable! Go!!!!!
High Recommend Unique Ambiance and One of the Best Servers and Bartenders I have encountered throughout Paris!
Le Dokhan's Champagne Bar takes you back in time. Imagine yourself in a Black & White Film during the Golden Age of Cinema.
A self confessed wine fanatic, I was drawn to this bar by the unparalleled champagne selection, of which some very scarce finds. Aside the P. Peters 2006 chetillons we ordered, the sommelier was kind enough to treat us to two of the night's glass selection (Marguet). Merci Matthias, a real treat! My wife and I will be coming back for more, with friends in tow. P.s: very nice luxurious nibbles on offer to boot
