Restaurant bewertenAfter undergoing years of restoration, the area surrounding the outlet of Svartån in Mälaren has been transformed from a landfill and industrial zone into the Oset and Rynningeviken Nature Reserve. The reserve offers cycling and walking paths, rest cabins, barbecue areas, coastal forests, meadows, and reed bays. Just north of Svartån, visitors can also find Naturens hus, a architecturally designed building with large windows that was constructed in 2006. Inside, there is a restaurant with a café, exhibition rooms, and a nature school. During my visit on a lovely October day, I ordered a chicken wrap with salad and bread. Though slightly pricey, the meal was satisfactory, even though Pepsi is served instead of Coca Cola.
Invited three older relatives for lunch. At 1300 it was still full of guests and we had trouble finding a table. The tables along the picture windows were reserved several times: for parties arriving 1200, 1400 ... Should have booked. Then one begins at the bar, takes drink and orders the main dish. The lunch menu changes each week. Short selection that included pea soup, fish, meat, vegetarian. Pay and take bread and salad. The hot food is brought to the table. Coffee and tap water is included, but other non-alcoholic drink is extra. The cost is a little higher than a usual lunch but the quality and quantity was more than worth it. Beautiful setting and friendly serve staff. Nice reward if you do some long walks in the area.
Located in a picturesque nature reserve, this cafe offers a basic but well-executed menu. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area or just passing by.
I had lunch in the Cafe Naturens Hus after a hike in the surroundings. The staff was very helpful with translating the menu in English for me. I took the fish menu, which was very tasteful and of good price. After a second hike I went back to have dessert, a delicous cheesecake, and I enjoyed eating it while looking out through the window at a beautiful snowy landscape. I would definitely come back here if I ever visit Örebro again.
After walking about 3 kilometers through a forest preserve, I wasn’t sure what to expect at this out-of-the-way restaurant on the edge of a lake in Orebro. Was it a sandwich shop? Fast food? What we found was a delightful (if small) eatery with typical Swedish fare that would surpass most local restaurants in the U.S. The menu was short with just a few choices, but all of us found something of interest. I ordered (and thoroughly enjoyed) what we would call meatloaf. But this was one of the best versions I’ve ever had. Topped with cooked cabbage, an interesting sauce, with a side of cloudberries, it was delicious and incredibly filling. The cloudberries (which I’d never had before) were a perfect tart counterpoint to the savory meatloaf. I was glad for the long walk back to our host’s home. I didn’t have wine with my lunch, but the selection appeared good with several beer choices. I particularly enjoyed the setting. The dining room has floor to ceiling windows on two sides that look out onto a small pond and wooded area. It would be a great location for an outside summer party or brunch gathering. You can drive to the restaurant and park a couple hundred meters away, but I recommend finding a spot a little further away and walking along the trails both before and after your meal. You’ll enjoy the view and the exercise.
