Restaurant bewertenFirst night on PEI we wanted to try local, homegrown and harvested food. The Blue Mussel didn’t disappoint. Mussels, oysters, lobster and scallops were wonderful. Great meal, great location, great meal and service.
Salad bar was fresh, I’ll give it that. This probably comes down to personal dining preference. As far as salad bars go, this was a good one. Everything was turning over, so everything was fresh. Mussels were the favourite and they went like crazy. As a result, if you got any they were hot. Lemon pie was very good. Main course lobster was good, not great. Very much a Red Lobster quality. They’re are better lobster dinners to be had on PEI. Unfortunately it’s not a “pie” review.
After a wonderful afternoon at the beach in Cavendish, the family was hungry! We were recommended to try Fisherman's Wharf Lobster for the fresh seafood and the large salad bar. We appreciate the recommendation as we enjoyed our dinner there. We were a little confused at having to order before being seated, but the receptionist was very helpful in explaining how the restaurant operated. We all placed our orders and were seated right away. Our server, Kyle, went further, explaining other options and the drink service. He was super friendly and a proud Islander, providing lots of insider tips on what to see and do on PEI. The 60 foot salad bar was enjoyed by all, with a nice variety of salads and apps. With a large group, we just didn't get lobster, but crab and steak as well. We shared most of the meals between the group. The crab was by far the favourite; it was tender and so sweet. The fresh lobster was also a bit hit. The steak did not live up to expectations, but that's what we get for ordering steak from a seafood restaurant : The only other downside was the atmosphere. It felt more like a food factory than a place to sit and enjoy a nice meal. But we would happily return for another great seafood meal.
We stopped in mid afternoon looking forward to a lobster dinner. It was pretty empty because of the time. We chose the lobster dinner that included a buffet. The salad at the buffet was ok but only a bit better than what you find at a Golden Corral or other chain buffet restaurant. The mussels were at the buffet and when you scooped them up you got mostly empty shells. The few mussels that were there were dry and rubbery. When our server took our order she asked if we wanted the lobster hot or cold. We thought that was a strange question because where we are from a whole lobster as part of a dinner is always freshly cooked and hot. I later read that in PEI the traditional way to serve a lobster is cold. Well when we got ours it was clear that it had simply been reheated. It arrived already cracked in the claws and tail and we had to ask for a cracker to finish the job. No picks were provided but the meat was so dried out it wasn 't worth trying anyway. We did not even need to use the bib. The deserts were not very good either. It was expensive even for a good meal but it was nearly inedible. We stopped for a lobster in Maine on the way home and had a wonderful complete meal with fresh lobster and mussels at a much cheaper price. I hope that tourists eating here don 't actually think this is what lobster should taste like.
We are on a family vacation from Ontario and we had the BEST experience at Fisherman’s Wharf Lobster Supper! The salad bar was delicious with MANY options, and everyone really enjoyed their lobster dinner. The strawberry shortcake for dessert was to die for! Our server, Kenan, was EXCELLENT and made our dinner so much fun for the entire family, including our little ones. He also provided us with lots of ideas for things to do while visiting the area. Kenan is a great ambassador for PEI, and our conversations with him were a highlight of our meal. We will definitely be back on our next vacation!
