Restaurant bewertenStayed across the street from this place and it always seemed busy. Decided to try it one day with my teen son when we were craving a decent burger. The place was busy at noon with lots of young people and construction types about. The...staff wasn't great at English but it was easy enough to point at the picture menus. The burgers were good and juicy. Fries were yummy too.
As a vegetarian I loved this place because they offer all of their burgers with a veggie patty. I didn't have a meat patty so I can't speak to their quality, but I was satisfied with the veggie burger and happy with the selection. The...food was on par with other fast food restaurants, but offered more options for herbivores. The restaurant is nice and clean, the service was fast and friendly and their hours were great. It seems common along the French Riviera that the restaurants close between 3-7pm so it was amazing to be able to grab a quick bite during off periods.
I don’t mean to be a jerk about this. We Americans are already in enough trouble around the world. I don’t mean to make things worse. I’m just making an observation: Americans probably won’t be happy eating at Les Burgers De Papa because they will...expect a US-style burger. Or at least I wasn’t happy. I found the burger to be tasteless and dry. The bun, in this land of Bakery Heaven, was terrible. The size of the burger was way too small for the bun. Because the bun had nothing going for it, I just tore the excess off and left it on the tray. I felt there was no excuse for a bad bun in France. I asked for fried onions and mushrooms. There was a sprinkle of French-fried onion straws, broken up. They tasted like the canned ones our mothers put on top of green-bean casseroles for Thanksgiving dinner. The few mushrooms had not been sautéed. They looked dry, and the serving was paltry. I agree with other reviews that said to stay away from the fries. They were obviously taken frozen out of a bag. They were greasy and tasteless. Let’s look at the other side of the coin, to be fair. Les Burgers earned a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. While I was eating, a steady stream of customers came in the door for takeout burgers. If I’m not mistaken, I think a bag went out the door for delivery. This is why I’m saying this is a restaurant that is excellent in France but mediocre at best in the US. The young woman behind the counter was delightful and helpful. I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if I took her to a great burger place in the US, where the juice runs down your arms, the burgers are big and fill a tasty bun that has seeds on top, and the meat has flavor...where the fries are freshly cut from real potatoes, like at Five Guys, and the toppings are generous and flavorful. She might hate it. I don’t know. The point is, when Americans are in France and crave a burger, they’d do better to stanch their craving and wait till they get home. France has incredibly great food. Enjoy it here and now.
I came here with my friend to try the burgers because we saw the place several times before and it seemed really nice! So, I ordered “La Daron” and let me tell you two things: 1) My hands still smell terrible because of the sauce...the hamburger had. 2) The taste... was simple awful. I love mushrooms and bacon! But really, I don’t know how it could taste so badly... maybe it was the sauce too or the bread... but at the end, I couldn’t say anything good about it. I gave it 1 star because I got free “cheese French fries” and I didn’t even know why. The place it’s fine, really, so comfortable and good for pictures. The food, ain’t.
