Restaurant bewertenEvery time we visit Garvan's it feels like we're in Ireland, dining at a traditional Irish pub with some of the best Guinness around. We have been here multiple times and the food never disappoints. On our most recent visit, we savored dishes like Shepard's pie, Guinness stew, and a fish trio. The restaurant is divided into several cozy rooms, each with its own fireplace, creating a charming, timeless atmosphere. It truly is a beautiful place to dine.
I visited Garvans for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed dining in their garden. The staff was friendly and attentive, and I had one of the best crab cakes I've ever had. The dessert and drinks were also excellent. I can't wait to go back. It's worth mentioning that the restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, about a 5-minute drive away from the lively main road in New Paltz, but the setting is very charming and covered.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The charming setting is a must-see, so make sure to reserve a table. The lovely waitress, Bridget, took care of us with a smile. We dined outdoors on a beautiful patio, enjoying our meal while watching other guests dine under the trees in what felt like a magical garden with twinkling lights. My dinner partner raved about his duck dish, saying it was the best he's ever had in the USA. My surf and turf was also delicious - the ribs were huge and tender, cooked for 37 hours. The "Happy Wife" cocktail lived up to its name, and the homemade apple pie brought by the chef's wife was a hit at our table. The servers were all passionate and knowledgeable about the menu, making us want to try everything. The owner, Garvan, personally visited each table and engaged with the guests. This is a stylish and unique spot for any occasion - from a first date to a special anniversary celebration. Don't hesitate, make a reservation today!
We dined at Garvins based on a recommendation from TripAdvisor yesterday, and we were not let down! The crimped bark sandwich was outstanding. My partner enjoyed the färger and maische, especially the färger which was sourced from the same butcher used for the sandwich. A visit to Garvins is a must when in the New Paltz area.
This is my third time visiting this restaurant, and just like my last few visits, everything was delicious! I even added a few more photos this time. This place is truly amazing! I've been here twice now - once for my birthday on St. Patrick's Day and once for my mother's birthday. On both occasions, the food and service were outstanding. During my first visit, they had a special menu and I tried the corned beef (a seasonal item) while my wife had the seafood trio. On my second visit with my family, we ordered a variety of dishes. For appetizers, we had the spicy hummus, stuffed mushrooms, and beet salad. For mains, we enjoyed the chicken, braised short rib, scallops, seafood trio, salmon, and duck breast. I personally had the duck breast and it was perfect! I highly recommend it. If you enjoy whiskey, this restaurant is one of the few nearby that serves Middleton Very Rare! Overall, I love coming here. It's a special place with exceptional food. We will definitely be back, and I will share even more photos next time!
