Restaurant bewertenOur group (4 people came in a fews ago. We had an amazing time. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Never once did we feel as though we didn't belong or weren't welcomed by everyone we met. The food was amazing; an experience that everyone should strive for at least once. Everything was explained perfectly so you knew what was being given to you and which wine went best along with why if went so well together. At a point during the experience, we were able to be outside with 2 of the 3 owners. To say we felt accepted and welcomed to talk and lounge together would be an understatement. We felt bad being the last to leave so late at night, but the staff made it seem that they didn't mind one bit. (Though I'm sure some did. This is an experience I would 100% love to have again with amazing g people that have worked so hard to get to where they are.
Let we walk you through 10 courses of deliciousness! As you enter you are greeted with warmth and hospitality from the amazing staff and taken to the bar where you start your dining journey. You begin with a Roasted onion and Parmesan broth! I wanted to just ask for a full bowl of this and call it a night it was so amazing! Next you move to Hokkaido scallop, crispy potato topped with fermented jalapeño. Followed by a Gougère stuffed with lamb. Both bites were equally delicious! For course no. 4 we were brought Wagyu over rice and a surprise 4.5 course of Tempura squash blossom! Then you are moved to the cozy dining room for the rest of your dinner. The restaurant is literally in an old house and it makes you feel like you are dining at the chefs table! First up in the dining room is fluffy cornbread bites! Next is Rosy Sea bass flown in overnight from Japan! This was definitely one of my favorite bites! Then on to Foraged mushroom “Cappuccino “ with black truffle! My favorite bite has to go to the Guinea fowl, turnip, radicchio dish! We upgraded and got the freshly grated truffles and it was to die for! The truffle balances the Guinea so well! As you move to dessert we were brought Saint-André Cheese Soufflé! I’m a s for any kind of cheese dessert course and I must say this was amazing! We finished the night with Vanilla bean pana cotta, praline, and smoked maple! Saint Germain is an amazing dining experience that I highly recommend!! The staff is very interactive and even @treysmithnola head Chef will likely make an appearance serving up a course or two to your table!
Absolutely fabulous. One of the best meals Ive had in the last few years. Each dish is crafted with intention, creating a complexity flavours that make you want to close your eyes just to taste them better and savour the moment. I'd travel back to New Orleans just to eat here again it was THAT good. Im going to be reminiscing about their blanched white asparagus and radishes in white asparagus broth, and smoked vanilla bean panna cotta foreverrrrr.
The Bywater is one of my favorite places in the County. So, when I saw there was a new James Beard nominee there, I knew I'd be trying it on my next trip to Nola. On a Main Street through the Bywater: it's in an unassuming house that one could easily miss. They start you by intention at the bar and then move you to the dining room. The canapé was a drink: Campari, green tea infused rum and of course St. Germaine. No grapefruit but tasted like drinking one. I had the house martini named L'apercu. I am not sure what made it taste so unique, but it was smooth and delicious. So, with this opening sketch it became apparent that the bartender is a master. I later had a St. Germaine Spritz which was equally excellent. The multi-course menu included some scrumptious tarts, and a griddle cake with butter that was fermented for over 100 days, as it's mixed with Camembert cheese. And I dare say, I have never seen a chef enjoy so much puncturing a cheese souffle and pouring hot cream into it. But my favorite dish was the Caviar, Potato and Milk Bread: it was just a delightful mix of flavors. Overall, the experience reminded me of Bastion which I also gave the rare 5 stars.
Every dish well explained, every dish delicious. Every small plate built up over the tasting experience to make us full and satisfied. The house martini and roi soleil somehow perfectly complemented the food. Friendly service, and the only 5 star review I’ve ever given.
