Rooster's - New Augusta

Roadside Chicken Shack at its Best. Rooster's is a roadside chicken shack and I mean that in the best way possible. It's right on Hwy 98 in New Augusta, just a few miles east of the Hwy 49 and Hwy 98 intersection. If you're heading from Hattiesburg to Mobile it's worth a stop, their fried chicken is good, really good. Like as good as you will find anywhere around. When I was in last they also had a fried pork chop lunch plate, but I couldn't keep from ordering the chicken again. The sides are always tasty and fresh, I got green beans and rice and gravy with my last order. It's simple southern/soul cooking severed in the most basic of settings, a few tables and mismatched chairs and a few picnic tables outside under a shed. They also have burgers and serve breakfast (which I hear is very good). Don't let the outside fool you, it's good stuff. Give it a try you likely won't be sorry.
