Minnoz Steak & Seafood - Nanaimo

We were staying 6 nights at the Coast hotel, of which this is the restaurant, and ended up eating all breakfasts and all but one dinner here. All meals here good and a couple were outstanding. My wife liked the spiced coconut chicken breast she had the first night so much she had it again on our last night. For me the smoked shoulder chop in a chipotle sauce was probably the second best up-scale pork chop I've had anywhere. Also, if you are looking for an early-ish and light-ish supper a tremendous deal is the half price appy menu from 4-6. Do not be deceived by "appy". My wife had the rib appy plate by itself as a quite acceptable meal. Another night we shared wings, caesar and "sicily melt" as a meal. For dessert, the berry flan is very good and very shareable. If you can, get "Mark" as your server. He was one of the best we've ever had. Personable, efficient, pro-active to make everything more than just right.

This resto is in the hotel lobby. There really is no competition in the area without driving. I know; we walked around Commercial St -- nothing open at this time.I passed the continental breakfast buffet. Yes, that is what I wanted -- yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, and muffin together with coffee and juice. It was a bargain at $12 CDN plus tip.It's unfortunate we weren't around for their lunch or dinner service.

Great seafood, pasta, and meat. Nice, friendly servers. Sort of 90s hotel decor, but they make up for it in laid back vibe. Stay away from anything more modern or daring - the only iffy thing we had was fish tacos - they got the recipe from Mars. If you're staying in the hotel, it's super convenient and they gave us a discount on the meal. A bit on the pricey side but we were happy with most everything we ate.

Stopped in for a drink and had great service. Returned for breakfast and the eggs are done as requested. Waitress even gave us coffee to go. More great service.

Beautiful hotel bar. View of the Nanaimo harbour (one of few). Great happy hour specials. Good food. Nice decor. Great for a date, girls night out or business meeting. With notice, can easily accommodate large groups. The girls and I from work regularly head to Minnoz for an after work bevvie.
