Restaurant bewertenWe stumbled upon this place on a walk through the very quaint village of Mornac sur Suedre. Now I am always wary of eating fish or seafood outside of my own kitchen. However I would say that even if Oysters are not your thing, then at least try them here. One of the best experiences ever. 6 large oysters washed down with a glass of vin de pay Chartenais for €5, which in sterling in £3.60??? . We went back another day and had the smoked mussels which were delicious. They apparently smoke them under a bed of reeds, messy to eat but very nice. The décor is very basic, however who cares when seafood is as good as this. I spoke to the guy that runs the place and he tells me that oyster are harvested on the mouth of the Suedre and stored in the marsh lakes that surround the place. Passing through Kings Cross St Pancras on the way home we went by the "Champagne & oyster bar" at the station which overlooks the railtrack, where the same can be had I am told for about £25 per head. I thought to myself looking at those indulging themselves.. suckers.

My partner and I had a wonderful dinner here last week; everything was fresh and served piping hot.
This is a simple and delightful restaurant; its speciality is 'Eclades de Moules' - see photo. A generous helping of mussels are carefully arranged on a board, then covered in pine needles which are lit. The process is repeated until the mussels are cooked. They're smoky, moist and delicious - and you come away delightfully smutty with salty ash at least all over your fingers. Yes, you get to clean up, but I wouldn't blame you for lick your fingers clean. Friendly, informal, simple and rather memorable: I'd happily go back, any time
We were recommended this restaurant by the hosts at our Chambres D'hotes in the village during our stay last year. We returned not only to the accommodation but also to this fabulous restaurant. The sign indicated that it is open from June to the end of August. We again enjoyed the moules cooked in the open air. It would be great if the restuarant could add a basic salad to the menu to enjoy with the seafood.
