Restaurant bewertenWe went there this morning.Service was horrible and food was even worse. They bring toast in un buttered. You ask for butter they come back with 2 small frozen butter.Their meat and potatoes were stale. Not a couple of hours stale! They had made them days before. They are supposed to have fruits with the breakfast- there was ONE piece of old watermelon! The whole experience was disgusting. They charge over $4 per cup for the most terrible coffee in the world too! Normally, coffee is included in your breakfast.I do not recommend this place at all.For almost $50, two people can eat MUCH better and fresh breakfast in other restaurants nearby.
Great food at great prices, server was unnecessarily rude. I don’t expect people serving me with a smile, be fake nice or even go the extra mile. But the interaction I had with the server, was almost as if they go out of their way to be rude. They go as far as to say that service tip must be 18%. Which by law, provincial laws is absolutely illegal. Anyways, if you don’t care for the service, this place works, otherwise, yeah don’t go.
I usually don’t write reviews for restaurants but I had such a rude encounter with the owner today. It’s unfortunate because my brother and I would often have brunch here together had good conversations with her which is why I’m so shocked. I understand if business is hard right now (I’m a business owner myself) but it’s no excuse to be rude at any time, especially not to someone who’s giving you their business.Today, I went alone to just grab a quick drink and had my Maltese with me (it’s a hot day) and some restaurants allow you to wait inside with your dog.Rather than telling me from the beginning “can you wait outside while I get your drink because we don’t want to get in trouble for having your dog inside?” (Which is totally reasonable and any sane person would happily comply) She took my order, didn’t say anything about the dog the whole time I waited inside, and just before I paid she proceeded to scold me about having a dog inside how I should know better as a dog owner word for word. She didn’t give me an option to tip, and essentially literally said “just get out” after I tapped my card…I was so shocked (never been treated that way at a resto). I didn’t even have the capacity to say anything because I froze from the mistreatment. Had to come here to share because I don’t want the next person to experience the same thing.I sincerely hope you treat the next person differently. You can be proactive about a dog rather than the way it was handled today. I don’t have a list of restaurants that allow dogs VS ones that don’t it’s Montreal after all, many are open to them. And would’ve happily waited outside if you just asked from the beginning.I won’t be returning will be sharing about my experience with my NDG friends family.
We were a party of four. I was destabilized by the rude waitress but otherwise would have enjoyed my pancake and good americano coffee. Rest of our party was satisfied. Waitress’s ire seemed only aimed in my direction. Won’t be back.
Oxford Café has been a reliable source of affordable and delicious food to me for the better part of a decade. I had one iffy experience, and it wasn't really that problematic, in hundreds of fantastic and reliable orders. The quality of the meals have always been exceedingly high and the portions always good.I love you, Oxford, I really do.
