Restaurant bewertenVery charming spot with many choices in their Polish cuisine. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and arranged for sharing of the courses. We had the stuffed cabbage (golobka? which was very tasty and sampled their famous pierogi in several varieties, which my wife proclaimed the best she 's ever had. Prices are moderate and the portions are healthy. I 'd certainly go back when in Montreal and the location is easy to reach in Old Town.
We were in Montreal for only a few days during Jazz Fest and didn't have a lot of time one early evening for dinner, so we went to Stash on a recommendation from a San Diego colleague and really enjoyed it. Passing the recommendation forward.
We discovered this restaurant by accident. It was close to our hotel, so we decided to try Polish cuisine. My partner and I went here for dinner. We were seated without a reservation, but I recommend making a reservation for the evening, because this reataurant was definitely very popular among locals and it was full here. Shortly after we made our order, someone started playing the piano. It was very lovely. The live music played here every day from 6pm to 10pm. We learned from the waiter that the restaurant has been here for fifty years and that the recipes of the dishes offered here have not changed during that time. I had cucumber soup, pierogies and apple pie. The food was so delicious that we decidet to go here again the next day, this time for lunch. I had cucumber soup again, as main dish potato pancakes (placki) and sweet pancakes (nalesniki) for dessert. Well, what to say? Again the food was absolutely fantastic. This restaurant was a wonderful surprise for us. I will definitely come back here on my next visit to Montreal.
We have been coming here for last 15 years, everytime we are in Montreal! Love the location in Old Montreal. I would recommend making a reservation or coming right when they open. Service always excellent, food delicious. We love the live pianist playing. Atmosphere is amazing. Our favourite is barszcz, flaczki, potato pancakes, crepes and stroganoff. You cannot go wrong with anything here.
Food amazing this time as it was in 2018. I want to apologize to our waiter as I assumed he was a member of the family who owns the restaurant. He was visibly upset with me and my assumption and asked me why I would assume that fact. I meant no disrespect; but yes, I was ignorant. I was trying to engage in talking about Poland as I’m Polish-American. I will always watch how I engage in conversations with other people now. I’m very sorry!
