Restaurant bewertenJolee restaurant is one of the first Sri Lankan/South Indian restaurants to open in Montreal and is located right in the heart of cosmopolitan Cote-Des-Neiges Pros: Very tasty and affordable fare; I highly recommend their mutton biryani (which comes with an egg! , chicken 65, string hoppers, and beef/mutton/vegetarian rolls Cons: Very very dingy location (both in terms of lighting and odour ; dine in is NOT recommended; Service is so-so (they seem to be overwhelmed at times and a bit slow I intend to be a repeat customer for take-out; that's for sure!
So much has changed since March 2020, the time of my last review. When we were finally were able to get out in May, we had a real craving for this food. We followed the recommendation to try this restaurant on Victoria in Montreal, just a short drive away. The food is really flavourful and the portions are extremely generous. We had meals for 2 days and we even saved a little for a family member who was also on lock down and having a craving. Because of the precautions and restrictions, only counter pick up was available and the service was excellent. They make an exceptional yellow lentil soup. They add tasty green peas that are so fresh they pop when you eat them. This birianis were so aromatic and spicy hot and full of lamb or vegetable. Their samosa is crispy and delicious. Put this one on your list. Even in this era of contraints, it's possible to get a really memorable meal at Jolee.
I love this restaurant so much. I’m so sad that I’ve known this place just recently. I love their food not the Vegetarian ones, but the ones that contains meat. Very satisfying the taste and the price is really convenient. Staffs are very welcoming smiley. Would definitely recommend this Tamil restaurant to you folks.
We went for lunch and were looking forward to trying out dishes from Sri Lanka and see how they differ from Indian dishes. They are similar on many points and some dishes we would typically find on an Indian menu were there, but the most important thing is that they were all good or very good. The vegetable pakoras were simply delicious, the mutton rolls also. The dosa was good, along with the onion bhajis. The vegetable noodle dish and the mutton khotu roti were good, but I would not order them again, given the other tempting choices on the menu. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth a return visit.
This place is a great standby. There can be a line at night time, but be patient and order. The price is just too good, and while they are challenged with being consistent, getting a great cooked plate with bright colors and ridiculously good flavors makes it worth the ups and downs. Bravo to these guys for being there and keeping the culture going!
