Madame Smith - Montréal

Requisit to this retaurant for a vegan option, double props for it is actually quite good. Wouldn't get out of the way to eat it again.

While the staff was able to identify which menu items could be made vegan, there were very few and some were not available when we went. The vegan flower cup “wings” was excellent and they had an off-menu Beyond Burger (which I did not order). My vegetarian partner has much better with the mushroom tars (not vegan as the restaurant shows listing) and another cheese dish. The gin and tonics were however phenomenal, and the place is enchanting. Very cool. The menu is only available in French, although the staff can help in translation.

Regrettable experience at Madame Smith. Having been a few times previously for the drinks, we decided to sit on the patio and order some food Friday evening. Service was atrocious, incredibly slow, the waitress had to come back multiple times in 15 min increments after taking our order to tell us something we ordered wasn't available.... further extending an extended waiting time for some fairly simple food. Then when the food did arrive, it was underwhelming at best, insulting in some instances. One set of tacos looked like they just scraped off a regular filling from 1 taco that had been returned to the kitchen, onto 3 new tortillas and served us that. What little meat there was on the taco, was dry, cold and tasteless.Ok for a drink or two if you're not expecting anything amazing, absolutely avoid for any food however.

Always went early so there were always seats, the ambiance is fun and the food is great. It's not cheap for the food or cocktails but it comes with good flavors and great service.

Fun ambiance, good cocktails, great food. During the week they have theme nights that are cool, if a little rowdy, depending on the crowd. The terrace in the back is extra nice.
