Hotel Auberge du Lac de Guery

Beautiful location and nice historic building. Unfortunately let down by extremely bad service, not by staff but by owners. The hotel is said to be open 7/7 and was aware restarant/bar closed Monday and Tuesday. At this price level we did not expect to receive an email at 2240 of night before checki-in to say no staff on duty , the access code is .... basically staff attend 0815 to 1200 on Monday/Tuesday.

We stayed here with our 2 kids and really loved it. The owners completely renovated the entire place and it is comfortable, modern and chic yet with a rustic flair. The view of the lake and the neighboring cows were just perfect! We really enjoyed speaking with the owners and staff who are friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend for excellent food and an enjoyable stay!!!

We enjoyed a memorable dinner here in June 2018. We came upon it by accident during a flying visit to Le Mont Dore: we stopped for afternoon refreshments, sensed that this might be the place for supper, and luckily got a table in the evening. The location is superb, the staff team are friendly and efficient, and the food is of a high standard. The style is traditional: when we dined, the menu was well chosen with an emphasis on local ingredients and straightforward dishes the local trout was cooked perfectly. The hotel was clearly full dining residents predominated and the atmosphere was very jolly, with much acclaim for the food. We were only sorry we could not stay too! This is a proper Auberge in the true spirit of the Auvergne, which we hope to be able to visit again.

Beautiful restaurant in a stunning setting, fast efficient service. wonderful food, fish caught locally from the lake and the special of the day was wild forgaged mushrooms. Interior and decor was very well presented and the price was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Hotel vieillot offering a spartate room, without charm and comfort.( partly mansarded, without TV, without separate toilet, bathroom with no opening)Restauration not really convincing on the classics (truite, truffade)High rates given to the service. Service perfectible .ce could be the pearl loved on its emerald ring but for the moment the pearl remains the lake and only the lake. Let's make sure the new owners are able to make it shine with the planned improvements, based on an acceptable quality-price service.
