Restaurant bewertenGinger restaurant has recently reopened and so we decided to give it another try. $60 for two courses or I think $75 for three courses with additions if you need, like bread, extra vegetables etc. Two of us chose barramundi on a bed of wilted leek and fennel. The barramundi portion was small and the leeks and fennel virtually tasteless. I ordered pistachio tart which had no pastry base rather a strange mix of paste, crunchy bits, nuts and pistachio flavoured crumble. The food was incredibly disappointing. The service a bit hit and miss but on the whole not too much to complain about there. The after meal coffee was just dire. How can you not make a decent coffee in Canberra?I'm sorry but if this is the best you can do then word of mouth will have an effect I think.
Due to size of group we were required to pre order. This is more of a cafeteria than a restaurant. The service was terrible food acceptable but value fir money poor. Great location but unfortunately the sole catering business here is taking the ****. Come for the view and a look around but eat elsewhere
Decided to have a late breakfast...food was exceptional and would go back just for that. Wait staff however were not very good service very slow, asked multiple times for table water and when we asked for sugar to go with our coffee the sugar satchels were thrown on the table. In being served not once did the young lady serving us say please or thankyou and appeared to be very unhappy about being at work.
We have eaten here three times in recent months: the first time was fabulous; encouraged by the first visit we took friends a month ago, the experience was average; hoping for a return to excellence we returned today it was dreadful. On the last two occasions, particularly today, the service was very slow, we had to stand and gesture to get the waiters attention. Our experience is the food is hit and miss. When it is good it is excellent, when not on song it is dreadful. A fish dish today, for example, was overcooked to the point of being like rubber. We would normally send the dish back to the kitchen but the wait today was such that we could not put our friends through a further delay. Consistency is the key to any good restaurant and this is where this eatery is falling down. This is not a cheap eatery and diners expect better.
I have been here before as part of my trip around Canberra. My husband and I fell in love with the place and atmosphere that integrates landscape and architecture. We have decided to have a small lunch after our wedding as it was a small wedding. Everything was perfect as our table located at a good vantage point. Unfortunately, the table service was poor. We got our drinks fizzing over the bottle (not glass) and the waitress decided to just leave the overflowing drink without any serviette then we had to ask numerous time for a highchair which should be one of the first things to be given. Then we ordered our meals and two of us ordered lamb dish and the waiter didn't ask how to cook them. We received our lamb somewhere between rare to medium-rare which of course is not suited for everyone and caused the two of them to be sick. As much as I appreciate the moment being there, I enjoyed my meal and so did the rest of the table. People come to this iconic place from various parts of the world and being considerate to provide service to the aged group and people with children is important. I think a simple table service affects the whole experience for anyone.
