Cafe Rio Mexican Grill - Missoula

After reading recent reviews, it is evident that the restaurant management is not taking feedback into account. The establishment is extremely dirty, with cobwebs covering the walls and light fixtures. The wait for dinner was at least 20 minutes, a change from how it used to be. The staff could be more efficient in order to make the process more organized. Food was spilled all over the preparation area, and I observed staff using a dirty rag to clean the counters and pans touching the food. Trash cans were overflowing and tables were dirty. I noticed a new employee standing in the corner of the kitchen, watching without anyone guiding her. It was odd that no one took the lead to show her what to do, especially considering there was a line of over 10 people waiting. My burrito was soggy and too messy to eat with hands, due to the excessive ladles of salsa added. The salad, which was supposed to come with guacamole and sour cream according to the menu, was missing those toppings unless specifically requested. It was evident that the restaurant was understaffed with a young team lacking morale and initiative to provide good service or quality food. Although I was excited to dine here after some time, the experience was disappointing and I do not plan to return. The sight of food preparation was stressful and unsanitary, and I hope the health department checks on the cleanliness of this establishment.

1st time I ever left a negative review anywhere! I'm a sworn law enforcement officer from a neighboring county, was in uniform and had my ID,and the manager (on 7/15/24, 11:45am) stated they wouldn't, and were strictly instructed to do so, not to give law enforcement discounts to anyone other than local PD and local first responders! That's terrible!

Found a 3 inch piece of plastic in my pork burrito.

The food is pretty good and fresh. The pricing is way out of hand though...
