Restaurant bewertenNestled in the Park Hyatt is a gem of a restaurant called Melrose. Chef Brian McBride has created a charming restaurant, which immediately reminds one of dining aboard a stately cruise ship such as the QMII. Understated elegance and sophistication makes Melrose a perfect retreat from the hub-bub that is life in the ever frenetic streets and back-offices of DC business and politics. The bar is a wonderful place to unwind and meet friends for happy hour or after a long day. The bar menu is delectable and offers a wide-range of choices to suit any palette. Even better, is the friendly, accommodating bartender who makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. The dining room is large and spacious, perfect for small intimate diners as well as large groups. The acoustics are such that conversations remain private. The dining room menu is absolutely fabulous, the dished delectable and original. My personal favorite is the Maryland-style blue crab cakes, which I feel are the best in DC (I should know, both being a native as well as having tried all of the other restaurants in and around DC). All of the other dishes are equally fantastic, from the freshest of Alaskan wild salmon, to mouth-watering meats. You cannot go wrong with any selection at Melrose. In the warmer months, partake of the remarkably serene and private outdoor dining area. It is especially pretty at sunset and after dark. Enjoy live salsa or big band era music. It is a welcome reprieve from the usually hip-hop, oldies rock and roll, and techno prevalent throughout most of the DC nightlife scene. It also tends to bring an older more sophisticated crowd. You could not choose a better place to have lunch or dinner in DC than Melrose. Enjoy!! *Complementary Valet Parking.
