The Red Fox Inn Tavern - Middleburg

This was a birthday dinner celebration with a prix fixed menu. We chose the Virginia Piedmont Ribeye, Braised Quail Arancini, Roasted Fig Maitake Tartlet, Spiced Pear Butternut Salad, Cheese plate, and for dessert, Nectarines Cream Cheese Cake. We had a delightful visit to the Inn. Our cottage was immaculate, private and comfortable. Attention to detail was evident in all factors of our visit. Excellent pub, happy hour and service. Loved the history and location!

We (two couples had a pleasant experience at the tavern restaurant we did not stay at the inn. We enjoyed the 4 course prix fixe menu it was a tremendous amount of food! The food was artfully prepared and delicious with two caveats: My dessert (Banoffee eclair , while delicious, was very sugary sweet which overwhelmed the other flavors. This is coming from a guy with a pronounced sweet tooth. The layered dark chocolate pot de creme was out of this world great. When you are at a restaurant of this level, you expect the best quality ingredients. The bar drinks were artfully prepared and delicious. My wife had the Leebees which was fabulous a delicate balance of elderflower and chamomile vodka. My friend had the something blue (dazzling! , and his wife and I had a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned respectively. Imagine her and my surprise when our drinks was garnished with bottom shelf food color red Maraschino cherries?! Seriously?!? A restaurant of this quality using cheap garnishes is really a puzzling choice. Aside from the questionable garnish choice, our drinks were delicious we did not eat the cherries. I wouldn't hesitate to return for a special occasion or date night. The memories of the cherries will produce a chuckle for some time.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a Saturday night getaway and it was fantastic! We felt swept away to a different time in our room , on the grounds and in the Tavern. Everything is so beautifully decorated, the food was amazing and the service incredible. All the staff were so nice and helpful. We will be back for an anniversary or some other special occasion. Special shoutout to our server, James! A true professional.

Food was fantastic. Wine pairing didn't necessarily match each course selection I made, but each glass was delicious and enjoyable. Service was also great. Would absolutely visit again.
