Restaurant bewertenWe were ecstatic to be able to have kosher food. It was really good. I had a chicken dish with pomegranate sauce that was very enjoyable.
I was with my Russian-speaking guide visiting the Grand Choral Synagogue, and we decided to have lunch at Le'chaim, the restaurant associated with the synagogue. There's a gazebo-like cafe/snack bar just to the right of the entrance to the synagogue, but the real restaurant is to the side and downstairs. On the day we were there, a group of young girls in uniform from the Hebrew School were out playing in the schoolyard. The restaurant is a very large space, and, rather strangely, we were the only customers. But we were warmly welcomed, and overall it was a great experience. I had a so-called Israeli salad and a cream of celery soup. I don't know why, but I expected a kind of cafeteria-style cuisine, but no: both these dishes were really excellent restaurant-quality. Not fancy restaurant, but good restaurant. Quantity was good, too, I wouldn't have wanted to eat more. I don't remember what my dining companion had, but he was quite satisfied as well. Prices are reasonable. I recommend.
Very good food, very helpful and efficient personnel. Meals are very tasty and creative. We ate there every day of our stay in St Petersburg, and loved it each time.
Arrange for a tour of the Synagogue from someone who really knows the shul and feels comfortable about it. This is a Chabad facility so they are more welcoming than some other orthodox faciliies. This was and is the grand synagogue for St Petersburg, The second biggest in Europe. There is an organ at the top of the sanctuary. Then have a good meal on the premises. Prices are reasonable , decor is tasteful, and the facility is clean. The food is plentiful and is the best tasting kosher food in the city. Can handle large and small groups
We ate 3 meals there and were impressed with the variety and the quality of the food. Although the service was a bit spotty, the staff was pleasant and tried to be very helpful. We walked away full and happy.
