Restaurant bewertenLast week had a banquet meal with a party of 5 and we could 't mistake a single that was excellent and service great. my wife and I came back this week to celebrate a special occasion and we were quite disappointed....I had booked online and phone spoken to confirm our booking. I also called out courtesy again to advise them, we could be 15 minutes late for traffic overload. when we arrived, do we have no booking for them? as always the restaurant was not busy at all, so there was no problem getting a table. we had a fantastic prawn escape, then waited over 35 minutes for our main, a simple Squid court that came overwhelmed and was unfortunately like chewing. when it was time to pay the bill, the waiter suggested twice that I have to add a tip whatever I always do, but not this time. we simply couldn't understand how there could be such a clear difference in the quality of food a week apart? this restaurant moves in the next month, but I am not sure whether we would return, what a shame is, as it was always one of our favorites for many years.
The tea house in chinatown is located in a lane from the capital chinatown. it is an elegant restaurant with impeccable service. the dishes we ordered were very well presented and tasty, but not very warm. the bbq pork dish did not contain much...pork, more bean curd. the deep-fried ice was the best I ever had. the wine list is interesting and offers from the bottle or glass. this is not really a place for small children, as there is no child menu. for the demanding diner who wants to enjoy a quiet meal.
Defines the best Chinese restaurant in melbourne, I think the best restaurant in melbourne. I always bring our best friends here to show them how excellent eating can be in melbourne.
As regular when teehouse, we were ecstatic to come teehouse to visit dinner! my own and my wife enjoyed the following; huh and sweet corn soup san chao bao (chicken) fried a dumpling (chicken) peaking duck banana fritters safe to say everything...wh good with our meal times and experience highly recommended!
Over the years have visited the Tea House on numerous occasions. Always excellent food and very good service. Son and l ate lunch here a short while back. We chose the the Lunch Banquet for $40 per person, but upgraded adding two pieces of Peking...Duck each for $48 per person. Started off with Sang Choi Bao, whiting fillets instead of garfish fillets (kind enough to change), prawns in BBQ sauce, eye fillet beef, special fried rice and Chinese tea. Exceptional as always. Early January when we were there, just prior to everyone coming back from their Christmas holidays made for a very nice quiet lunch.
