Villa Tap - Madison

Hands down best fish fry in Madison. Get there early if you want to wait too much. You can enjoy drinks and popcorn while you wait, though. Friendly staff, good music. Doesn't look like much but man do they do they have the best fish and coleslaw around !

Went here for the 1st time on Friday to meet w/some friends who eat here occasionally. Had the cod fish fry dinner, which was decent. 3 good sized pieces in a tasty, non-greasy batter w/baked potato and cole slaw for $12. The baked potato was a bit dry and lifeless, and even butter and sour cream couldn't save it. But the fish and the cole slaw were pretty good. It's a creamy slaw, which isn't my favorite because it's usually too much 'creamy' and not enough 'slaw'. But this one was good. The beer selection needs a little work, though. It should be better. I won't make it a point to eat here, since I like other places better, but I will meet others here for the fish fry if they'd like, because overall it wasn't bad. I'd give it a 3.25 stars rating.

Villa Tap has been at this location since 1976Chico bought the place ~6 years ago and can usually be seen around.
