Restaurant bewertenNeeds new menu and the kitchen staff need leadership and invigorating. Food quality has slipped progressively for some time to an all time low.
Mid-2015. The flat white was nothing special, and the two hotcakes "with caramelised banana, maple syrup and cinnamon mascarpone" ($15) were round and thick. My companion liked how there was enough banana so you could have some with every bite of hotcake. I liked how the hotcakes were so light and fluffy, but where was the mascarpone? The mascarpone was melted. Melted, cinnamon mascarpone is just a grainy mess. I would have preferred it ‘on the side', or even on top of the bananas rather than spread on the hotcakes. The caramelised bananas weren't at all browned. I would have preferred if the kitchen had spent more time to achieve that, but other people would have complained of the time it had taken. Lastly, imitation maple syrup is overly sweet. If you're going to put "maple syrup" on the menu then give me imitation, please put it in a small jug and don't pour it all over my hotcakes. The perfect hotcakes were definitely the superstar of the dish though, and it wasn't as if my criticisms of the toppings stopped me from eating every bit. The other topping option is "with strawberries, icecream and maple syrup". Sounds good, but who knows what it's like in the execution? The view from La Piazza Cafe/Restaurant is of the car park. The outdoor tables are almost in the car park. The only things worth looking at are the wood-fire pizza oven in the kitchen, and the large, captivating light shade over the counter,

We have been going to La Piazza for over 12 years. The food is great, with a great choice of dishes to choose from. The Pizza's are exceptional. We go regularly with groups of friends and as a family. As a family it is a place that we can all find something to eat. We have 2 who are gluten Intolerant, one who is also dairy intolerant, and vegan, and sometimes one who decide this week she is vegetarian. Oh, and all the Men eat everything! The kitchen staff are very accommodating.
I have been here quite a few times and the service and food are always good. The portions are very generous. They also have great gluten free options, in both pizza and pasta. Its a lovely relaxed restaurant, great for large and small groups. Its well worth a visit.
