Restaurant bewertenLook at the previous reviews, it seems that this place has improved a lot in the last few years! I was several times and the staff was always very helpful in discussing the vegan options. The service is also quite fast. You now have a separate vegan menu that is great and has several vegan starters, curries, agitators, noodles and salads. You also do a great value lunch deal with an option for vegan spring rolls, curry rice. The prices are very reasonable and the food is fresh and delicious!
Limited vegan options - but the staff has limited knowledge of what is vegan on the menu. The Veg Spring Rolls were very meager and dusty...
So we went to the pepper tree as it was late and there were not many alternatives. I would read here, they did some vegan food and true enough they do. I probably ate the same as any other vegan who's ever in there: dimming cums, vegetable-stirring bean and coconut rice. It was okay, not amazing, but okay. I ventilated some sweetness and I remembered a review here that the coconut and mango sorbet were vegan. I asked the waitress and she went away to check and confirm it was. She also mentioned the bean cake, but I stayed with the rice. The desert came and I thought nothing about it and tried the ‘writing’ that proved to be a burnt bean cake. Then I tried the Sorbet, which proved to be a Tageeleis!!! I complained, but I really don't think she thought it was a big deal! I recommend you to avoid this place at all costs.
Limited vegan and vegetarian options. I could only have the one vegan option that was the iron, and it was probably the one of the worst ironing friars I ever had. Bland, partly over boiled, tofu has no favor... really boil. The staff seemed to all really stressed and not particularly friendly. It came to £20 per head for a starter (over steamed and falling apart dumplings), main and drink. Not particularly expensive, but for table sharing and bad quality food it was not worth it. I'm not going back.
Went to the Pepper Tree on a Sunday afternoon. It 's located right by Clapham Common tube station, facing the main road. The menu isn 't great for vegans; just a couple of dishes marked as such. More disappointingly, the waitress said that other dishes were 'vegetarian ' as they only contained fish sauce. To be fair the menu does state that all dishes except the vegan ones contain fish sauce. I wanted to try a curry, but had to go for the vegetable stir fry which was tasty. Not bad if you don 't mind the limited choice.
