Restaurant bewertenGuests actually eat in the charming house of the owners, surrounded by all manner of fascinating art and artefacts with a view of the lush garden through the mullioned windows and eating off a delightful mix and match hotch potch of crockery everything from Danish floral to Moroccan geometric. The dining experience is a sophisticated buffet. First guests are served three starters their own Lolland take on tapas in this case variations on white fish, all prepared in excitingly different ways. Each table is then invited into the kitchen separately, where the hostess introduces you to an array of salads made with local organic fruit and vegetables (forexample, beetroot with rhubarb a first for me! and a tantalising selection of freshly roasted meats and sauces. Everything was delicious. The wine list is extensive we opted for a German white and a German red. We adjourned to the garden to enjoy our rhubarb trifle dessert at a wooden table in the garden on a balmy summer 's night. Such a memorable occasion. I have one single 'criticism '. How I wish one was given 2 plates one for salads and one for meats. Their close proximity on the same plate does nothing to enhance the excellence of each of them.
Not what I was expecting atmosphere wise from a campground glad that we hadn 't worn jeans and that the kids had sweaters/button downs! Heard the food was delicious, but so much more interesting that I expected. We got the buffet, which was 3 different appetizers that were served to you, then a buffet of various salads and meats. I normally am not a buffet fan, but the way this was done with going back to the kitchen area and having the dishes explained and served, it really was more a true family style then buffet. The kitchen is a moderate sized kitchen that in this case really is the heart of the home since you walk through to get to the back dining room. The cooks have sauces bubbling on the stove and will pull meats from the warming ovens to carve. On the night we visited there was a choice of pork, lamb and beef, which were all delicious, but the salads were really my favorites beets, Jerusalem artichokes, various greens, broccoli, smoked potatoes. The variety was astounding even just a taste filled you up since there were so many! The buffet is either with or without dessert (also served to you at the table), and we were able to rally and split on dessert among 4 people. Glad that we did it was described as a dense apple cake, and it was stuffed with fruits and nuts, but the cake that held it all together was so light that it seemed impossible that it was able to hold its shape. Wine suggestions were on point, and although an expensive night out, it was a bargain for what was offered. Sorry that the Victrola did not get fired up that night (heard that sometimes the music comes out and dancing starts) but I just keep my fingers crossed that maybe next time ......
Absolutely fantastic food, waiting and surroundings.. There was a choice between small lopas (lolland tapas) with buffet or a 5-6 course menu. We had the 5 course menu filled with local surprises ans taste explosions. I recommend the restaturant reviewers to test this great place worth while a trip!
Very good food, very good service, very good atmosphere. I really felt like home, with people who know how to run a restaurant. Yes, next time I will have the chance, I will definitely go again. Fully recommended.
In the outskirts of Denmark. In what is normally perceived as a part of The Rotten Banana , you find the coziest most welcoming personal zero mile restaurant, hosted by folks with eyes in front of yours, with feet in the kitchen, and a personality that is just it. It is hard to reserve, as seats are few and guests plentiful. However, persistent as you must be to go to the westernmost of Lolland. you will find it, it there, and stay around for a few days. Lolland is best of, if you like the to see sky touch sea. If you like local food, fabulous sweet local grown wines, visit at small islands (also local!! , 15 meters high hills raising to the skies, B&B 's (try Sejerlund! , gorgeous gardens.... Go there. Stay there a while. Peace and beauty falls on you.
