Restaurant bewertenWe stumbled across this place on a sunny Sunday afternoon in April and were immediately attracted by the crowds of people dining there and obviously having a great time. Sadly and inevitably there was not a seat to be had, so we resolved to go back.At this time of the year they are only open Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes and as we were leaving the following Saturday we booked for the Friday evening early. This was much quieter and we were the first to arrive, with Jean-Luc sitting outside in the evening sun waiting for our arrival. He could not have been more friendly and welcoming (no English spoken but he was very patient with our broken French combined with sign language)! We were asked what we would like on our "Plat" and explained that my wife is a little fearful about oysters and he immediately grabbed one, opened it and offered it to try. She couldn't refuse and was pleasantly surprised so these were added. I expressed a little concern about the whelks, as these are usually very tough but Jean-Luc proclaimed that I had obviously not had good ones properly cooked before and I was immediately offered one to try, which was delicious and not at all rubbery. Stupidly, I didn't tell him I was unsure about eating lobster! We had a normal sized and a small sized plat between us and struggled to finish. All was delicious, although the nit-picking part of me might say the mayonnaise could have been better. Our two dogs who were under our table made short work of the prawn heads and other bits that were edible but surplus to requirements.Christine proved just as friendly as Jean-Luc and on this fairly quiet Friday evening several of the other customers appeared to be old friends. All in all, a great teaching session as well as a gastronomic joy and we will return much more equipped and informed to experience the food with friends and family.
Went with friends to this very reasonably priced fresh seafood restaurant. €24 for whole platter of oysters, langoustines, crab, large prawns etc. Fish soup to start was also special. Not much else on the menu but it was not needed. Friends had moules marinieres - also delicious.
The best restaurant in the Los Gigantes/Santiago area.
