Old Lahaina Shave Ice

Absolutely the best! Take any shave ice you've ever tried (whether it’s from Bahama-Bucks, Matsumoto’s, or your local spot) and imagine it at a 5! All the syrups are incredibly fresh and delicious, the ice is made locally, and it’s so soft and perfect. We visited six times in just six days! On our last visit, they mistakenly mixed up my order, so they gave us the ones they got wrong, plus the correct one and an extra bowl of Macadamia Nuts! The line can be long, but it’s definitely worth the wait.

A great tip: don't worry too much about the ice base or the snow cap—try the unbeteed version first. The "Ululani" size is perfect for sharing between two people, or if you're feeling extra hungry, one person can easily finish it on their own. If they don’t add enough syrup, they'll gladly top it up for free, which was no issue for us at all. For those watching their sugar intake, there are several sugar-free options available. Additionally, there are plenty of sheltered seating options a bit further back from the road—just keep walking until you find them!

Ululani's Shave Ice was my favorite treat during my recent trip to Maui and Oahu. I opted for the child's size, which was actually more than enough for me, and I chose pineapple, coconut, and mango syrups, topped with a snow cap of condensed milk. The syrups were thick and tasted just like real fruit! I also loved the texture of the shave ice—it was really smooth and not overly icy. I went on a Monday at 6:45 PM after dinner and ended up waiting 45 minutes for my order, though it only took about 5 minutes to prepare my bowl once I ordered. If you want to skip the line, I recommend going earlier!

Ululani is a great place to get some ice cream. They have a large number of flavors, but they are busy so they are often made from certain ice or azuki beans. We tried the heupia ice cream with ours and loved it because it is basically coconut ice cream, which is really good with razor ice cream. Very refreshing on a hot Maui day :

Great service, really delicious. This is the first time I've had shaved ice and it was a lot smoother and more flavorful than I expected. Snow cones? Pff get out of town, shaved ice is way better.
