We celebrated my darling husbands birthday at the Studio recently with our son and daughter in law. From the moment we entered the restaurant until our departure, we were treated royally. Our waiter was knowledgeable and professional, offering wonderful suggestions. We dined on fabulous oysters to begin our meal, followed by a delicious truffle risotto. The salads were beautifully crafted and so very tasty. We enjoyed the Seabass and Salmon, both with creative, savory preparations. Our drinks and wine were lovely as well. Our waiter Saul and his team made the evening special. They were helpful yet unobtrusive. The prix fixe menu, which provided for substitutions from the à le carte offerings, more than met our expectations. Our sommelier Gary, equally accommodating, introduced us to wines from regions new to us that matched the spiney lobster, farmed abalone, sturgeon, char, etc. note for note. While the cost tracks great seats at the Metropolitan, dinner at The Studio is an inspired operatic experience nevertheless. Besides, could the setting sun be a better backdrop?
