Restaurant bewertenStayed here for only one night if you visited a high time in the red snow, but could have stayed longer. andrew and bridget the owners where very friendly and helpful! our taxis booked, made us a beautiful pot tee at the arrival to enjoy before. a roaring fire with the daytimes! if they want to escape the rat race in amazing environment, they spend one night or two here. the aladins cave of curiosity will keep them occupied for hours with books ornaments and all kinds of unusual things from all over the world. there is also an antique shop to browse. I bought a couple of bargains here. the four posterbed was amazingly comfortable and the breakfast was first-class, with plenty of choice including fresh berries and a delicious cooked breakfast. will come back next time, I have to flee for a night. thanks andrew and bridget for a wonderful stay.
It was a last minute booking for us and we couldn't of been made more welcome. Two lovely dogs came to say hi also. What can I say but wow, loved all the bits that were in this building. Our room was lovely a massive...4 poster bed so comfy. Bridget gave us information about where to eat as they had finished there service. Will go again.
My wife and I stopped here the night of a friend's wedding reception at the pub across the road. As soon as we walked up to the building (an amazing exterior in itself we were greeted by the owners and some locals doing a bit...of DIY outside. Everyone was so friendly and happy to chat to us! The interior of the building is unexplainable, you have to see it to believe it! Quirky and eclectic just doesn't do it justice, wow! We were shown to our room which was again amazing and just what we needed for a quick afternoon nap to sleep off the hangover! The owners were so helpful and helped us out with anything and everything! To top it off we awoke from our nap to find one of the dogs sleeping outside our room which just made everything even more homely (we have 2 dogs ourselves). The dogs are really friendly and love a good scratch! Off we went to the reception across the green, returning early the next morning it was a treat to return to such a lovely room with a gorgeous bed!! The next morning obviously feeling a bit fragile we ventured downstairs for some breakfast. There wasn't really a menu, the chef/owner basically just said he could Cook whatever we wanted! This was the perfect way to start the recovery from the night before and the breakfast was gorgeous! After getting our bags together we had a wander around the antiques shop next door which was an absolute treasure trove in itself! An incredible place with friendly and welcoming staff. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Will definitely return!
We took our Daughter, her Partner and Baby for Sunday Lunch. This was their first time at Chalk and Cheese and they were so impressed with the informality of the reception room and Bar. The Restaurant is a mix and match of furnishings and crockery....But this is all part of the charm of Chalk and Cheese. Sunday Lunch was excellent and extra portions of meat and vegetables were offered without us asking. This was not the first visit by my wife and I and it certainly won't be our last. Our thanks to the owners and staff for making this a memorable occasion. John Anne@ Burrettfield
If I was to help myself to breakfast, I would have not put myself that much, But well enjoyed, and it was hot.
