Restaurant bewertenWe went to The Candle Room for dinner during our stay in Killarney. As the restaurant was not full, we were seated immediately. We ordered a couple of items from the fixed menu and the ala-carte menu. The items were potato and leek soup, beef fillet with rice, Irish lamb shank and ice-cream. The potato and leek soup was creamy and full flavoured. The stir-fried beef fillet in orange sauce was tasty although the beef was slightly tough. The braised Irish lamb shank with celeriac and shallots was delicious – one of the better lamb shanks I have ever tasted. The fine ice-creams with chocolate sauce in a crispy tuille basket were refreshing. Service was excellent. Our server gave us good recommendations, asked if we wanted more bread, and topped up our glasses regularly. I will definitely eat here again the next time I am in Killarney.
Lovely and relaxed with great staff and excellent food , excellent attention to every detail , the staff obviously know what they're doing and take pride in doing so . the wine choice was excellent , couldn't have asked for more
We dined here because we got a good package deal with our rooms, dinner, and breakfast. Dinner at the restaurant was several courses, including starters, a sorbet palate cleanser, mains, and dessert. For vegetarians there was bruschetta, soup, a pasta dish, and risotto (though, I found the risotto boring). Breakfast in the morning was nice with a self-serve buffet and then hot breakfast to order. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was fancy, but relaxed and comfortable.
We dined her twice as part of a package in the Killarney Royal Hotel. It is a beautiful large room. We were served very well by Billy Carver and his team. Mike Hayden, all of whom had a great sense of humour and looked after their guests with perfection. However, though I have say I was rather disappointed with the quality of the food and for such a beautiful hotel with lovely staff I think they could step things up a little.
Group of 4 dined for dinner and breakfast. Food very bland and not very favourable. Wine list is very poor which is surprising for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast buffet was basic but scones stale. Hit dishes are available as well. Staff very friendly and service efficient.
