Restaurant bewertenLast night at the Hilton DoubleTree on Vets in Kenner I decided to dine in. I was promptly greeted by a hostess and seated. The table where I was directed to had bits of what looked like lettuce on the table cloth from the previous diner. I observed what looked like an understaffed operation based on the fact that the same server who was covering the entire dining area was also taking calls for room service. This no doubt affected his ability to properly take care of his guests. On to the food.... I ordered a ribeye steak, grilled vegetables, and potatoes. I also asked for grilled onions and mushrooms on my steak. When it arrived the steak had a very good flavor but the temperature was underwhelming. I have a suspicion that it sat in a window for several minutes when it should have been at my table. The veggies and potatoes were the same barely warm temp. With an extra employee and a little more attention to detail this could have been a 4 star experience.
We ordered chicken Alfredo, grilled redfish and the red beans and rice. All of it was excellent. The restaurant is in the Doubletree Hotel. The food was fresh. The mashed potatoes were fantastic and real (not instant). The crab cakes has plenty of crab too.
I have a few friends that work at this hotel but that doesn't mean I am going to sugarcoat things. The food here simply isn't anything to write home about. I've eaten breakfast here on numerous occasions for free so I am familiar with their runny eggs, bland breakfast potatoes, and greasy sausage links. Even when it was called 2150 City Grill as a Radisson property the food was the same low quality. I will say that Fab and Nina are super friendly, though, and take care of their customers.
I wouldn 't even call the food mediocre here and i probably should have taken the hint to just walk out when I asked about several dishes on the menu and my wait person just shook their head NO . Very expensive for food that I have better out of the freezer case at a convenience store.
I've stayed here more than a dozen times. The dining area isn't open until after five the bar has the same menu though. The food is ok. The hamburgers at decent. The po boys are generous enough. The staff although friendly is severely short handed when it comes to food service and bar service. The bar tender is constantly running back to the kitchen to retrieve orders and not sure what else. Let's just say I eat in when it's raining.
