Restaurant bewertenWe have been dining at Lemon Grass since 2001 and have always enjoyed it until this year. Myself and twin brother with our wife's ate there on sat. Oct 1 had had a terrible experience. Three of us ordered a steak dish with my brother ordering the filet mignon. The waitress brought it and its was raw and so he sent it back only to be brought back again raw, so he canceled it and ordered a cesar salad. I can't nothing was done to comp his meal for the trouble in waiting while the three of us ate our meal. I would like to hear from someone regarding this if anyone cares. gary falconer [hidden email]
In a last minute decision we decided to eat locally (to our hotel), and popped into The Lemongrass Seafood and Grill in Kapaa, Kauai and enjoyed an excellent simple meal. My wife and I started with a simple house salad with a gentle vinaigrette very good. Then on the recommendation of a waitress I ordered the barbecued pork with guava. Someone who used to live in Louisiana close to the Texas border ordering barbecue in Hawaii! What a delightful surprise! The spicing was gentle by Texas standards, but that allowed the fruit to show through. The pork was obviously slow cooked probably for 10 hours or more. But what a delightful mix of flavors. Even better, with a simple dessert (shared), the total bill (with three glasses of good wine between us), came to less around $95 before tip for the two of us!
Very good food, excellent service! Would definitely eat here again.
The food was just ok... clam chowder was good... But we weren’t really impressed with anything.
Our visit was very disappointing. We're used to spectacular seafood, being from San Diego. The ahi here was unimaginatively prepared, with nothing but a congealed bernaise. The service was awful; when the server brought the food and it was not correct, she acted like she couldn't believe we wouldn't accept the orders the way they were. Then we had to wait a very long time again for the correct order. Too bad the only place to get good food in Kauai is in the resort restaurants.
