Restaurant bewertenI am pretty aghast at myself for even admitting I've been here, but somehow were led here by a hardly coherent guy we befriended at Absinthe Brasserie.
I really enjoyed this bar. The absinthe drinks are much too expensive $15 per), but what you pay is the cool, quiet, intimate atmosphere compared to most other bars you will meet in Houston. This place is dark. I'm talking dark like it's lighted by candlelight. It is a place where you can experience your important others or a few close friends. Pros: - Unique atmosphere Negative: - Super expensive Absinthe drinks
Can you judge a place on a single drink? I won't, but only because there were other things to like. An unaccompanied wooden door opens into a dimming room with couches, tables and a long bar. It has a dark, almost gothic first impression. Cue the scene of Underworld with vampires appearing in baroque decadence. It wasn't so pretentious. Instead, it was quiet conversations and a friendly bartender. Speaking of bartender, let's go back to the drink I mentioned. After ordering a Manhattan, the bartender asked me if I had a preference... not for the quality of the whisky, but for a variation of tradition. Points. I ordered a Perfect Manhattan that was *perfect*. Seriously. It was done with the precision and care I would take instead of a typical bar Dash-and-Shake. I'm done with this place. Intimate setting and a perfect perfect fit.
This is a great little neighborhood bar. It's hidden, so it can be hard to find. It is very dark on the inside, they have great rock music playing, and very friendly bar offers. You are very knowledgeable about Absinth and all other drinks that might interest you.
The drinks are delicious, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is dark and unique. It's one of my favorite bars in town!
