Restaurant bewertenI visited the restaurant for the soup dumplings and I would rate them 3.5 stars. The atmosphere was pleasant, and we had a table suitable for family dining.
Located on the ground floor of a somewhat run-down hotel, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, with only one table occupied by four diners finishing their meal. Given the lack of customers, I expected the server to be more attentive, but she seemed rather impatient during the ordering process, returning after just 30 seconds. The menu was confusing and appeared to be all over the place, and despite having several menus, they lacked consistency. We decided to try the honey walnut shrimp, but the shrimp had little flavor and tasted mostly fried. The walnuts, however, were quite good. Next, we ordered the char siu fried rice. I had a bite first and found it flavorful, but it was very oily. The roasted pork was a highlight—it was super tasty and crispy, definitely a winner. We also tried the soup dumplings, which were a mixed bag. The insides were dry and lacked flavor, making them seem like they were pre-made rather than freshly prepared. Overall, the service was poor, the food was overpriced, and it was surprising to see that the grand opening sign was still up after four years.
The attention to detail in my dishes was truly evident. The Peking Duck was exceptional, unlike the hit-or-miss experiences I've had at other Chinese restaurants. You know how it goes—sometimes you get a lot of meat, and other times it's mostly bones. Here, every piece was spot on. No fillers or disappointments. The outside was perfectly crispy, and the inside was moist and flavorful. I can't wait to return!
This is the best Peking duck I've ever had on Oahu! The staff treats you like family, which really adds to the experience. I highly recommend trying the pot stickers and salt and pepper tofu as well.
The restaurant goes by the name Peking Duck Express Kitchen on DoorDash, and in my experience, the "express" label is spot on. My meal arrived incredibly fast, which makes me think the food is pre-prepared and just waiting to be served. There’s no way they cooked everything fresh after I ordered; the speed of delivery suggests otherwise. Each of the four items I ordered came in Styrofoam containers, and unfortunately, they suffered from being steamed during transit. The biggest disappointment was the crispy duck and crispy wontons, which lost their crunch and ended up tasting almost identical. The only difference between the two was their shape; I’d advise just ordering one to avoid redundancy. The fried green beans were another letdown—they were soggy and lacked flavor when they should have been crispy. On the brighter side, the beef and broccoli was decent. It featured a good balance of meat and vegetables but was on the dry side, lacking enough sauce. If you're in a hurry and need Chinese food quickly, this place might work for you. However, in my opinion, there are better options out there if you can wait a bit longer for your meal.
