Restaurant bewertenA solid 4 stars!! The location is easy to get to. We were able to find street parking nearby (for non Hoboken natives). The vibe for the main dining room is cute Marilyn Monroe themed. We came for Sunday brunch which was good: wings, avocado toast, cheese sticks and of course Mimosas. The prices were great. Our server was awesome and we def enjoyed trivia with Lydia Vengeance. Missing one star only because the food was okay/good. I'd def return. Also, we must've come on a good day no issues with wait time.
Food was alright. I had a steak sandwich ,tasted fine but SUPER thin). Left a lot to be desired. Fries were forgettable. Sushi looked good though ,friends ordered it and said it was alright). Service was good. Clean environment. Friendly people. Quick service. Dress code left a bit to be desired.... Place shouldn 't be advertised as dress to impress if a guy in nikes and t-shirt can also go in. Drinks downstairs were nice. Bartender was sweet and friendly. Not the strongest drinks I 've had but neat environment
Ugh, this pains me. I?m big on reviews and have never written one as lengthy as this one. My first visit was absolutely AMAZING! So much so that I returned with a few more folks during my second visit which was bad. Bad to the point I?m really contemplating returning. Mind you, the food and ambience are amazing, as evident in the pictures below. It was the service or lack of, that rubbed me the wrong way. Our server (I believe his name was Mario) was kind when greeting us after we were seated at our table but it went downhill from there. We ordered our drinks with no problem but he asked for our IDs after ordering a bottle of champagne which was odd to me as our first order contained alcoholic beverages. We complied, he checked two of ours (we were a party of 4) and then abruptly left the table without checking IDs of the other two or saying anything which also struck us as odd but whatever, we were here to celebrate my birthday so we were in great spirits. We placed an order of various sushi rolls and appetizers which were AMAZING sushi tasted so fresh however, after we were done, we went to place our main courses and the server says oh the kitchen is closed, so now we?re all shocked like huh. He mentioned (at that time which was after 10:45pm) that the kitchen closes at 10:30pm, but not once did he approach us as the time neared 10:30pm to say ?would you like to order additional food? etc., nothing. So he says he?ll try and ask the manager if they can make an exception, the manager says no (according to him). I?m with a party of 4, 1 of us previously worked as a server for over 10 years and another currently serves as a general manager of a restaurant. Both were livid. The manager came over and while she was very kind, she wasn?t much help beyond saying she would comp another round of drinks but at this point we don?t want drinks, we need dinner so we ask our server for the check. He returns almost 10 min later with drinks and we told him we didn?t want it s
Atmosphere was nice. Ended up going to Vanity located inside Monroe's. Omakase was alright. The drinks were great though
This is review for Vanity at Monroe's. The place is sublime. Chris' omakase menu takes your taste buds for a test drive and you are rightly thrilled! Wagyu beef, sea urchin, scallop and varieties of tuna come to you over 14 majestic courses. Nothing, not one thing, disappoints. Chris has come from Brazil, via Japan, Korea, and California to New Jersey. Use him or lose him, this man has the knifes and the talent to make any sushi sing. Lime, lava salt and Yuzu glide over perfect slices of fresh fish and meat to create delightful mayhem on your tongue. His skills are worth your time and money. Can't wait to go back already. P.S. Our booking was on a cold 20°F night. They'd had a cancellation at the same time ours. New restaurants deserve better than a last minute cancellation, even more so now but not just because of the last 2 years of lockdowns. Please respect the work of chefs, waiting staff and bartenders that endeavor to bring a different part of the world here to your plate with skill and love. I'd change the music and the ambiance would have been even better with full tables but this place is more than worth your custom. For the price, there is no better in the Tri-state area. Go beyond the Instagramability of the experience and embrace the outstanding food.
