J's Crab Shack - Hartford

The food was outstanding! They were incredibly busy when we arrived and had stopped taking orders, but they still welcomed us in. As a result, they ended up staying later than necessary to accommodate us. I highly recommend this place to anyone because they truly go above and beyond for their customers—a quality you won't find in corporate chains. Plus, the owner has been in business for 30 years, which is impressive considering that most businesses don't last even 30 months! Their prices are surprisingly low; a family of four can enjoy a fantastic sit-down seafood meal without worrying about the cost.

The restaurant is conveniently located next to a seafood market and has a pleasant nautical industrial ambiance. You order at the counter, find a seat, and wait for your food to be brought out. I opted for the Clam Chowder and a hot Lobster Roll, dressed in butter instead of the usual cold with mayo. Everything was delicious and packed with flavor, and the portions were more than generous. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this spot to both visitors and locals looking for a tasty, laid-back seafood meal.

As seafood enthusiasts, we discovered this hidden gem online while searching for king crab legs and belly clams. We were not disappointed! While they do offer table service, there are no traditional waitstaff. We can't wait to return!

This restaurant is fantastic, and the service exceeds expectations. Be sure to try the lobster roll—it truly seems like an entire lobster went into making this delightful dish. The staff is extremely professional as well.
